Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Project and Program Support group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a technical career as an Environmental Regulatory Compliance Professional!

Responsibilities Include:


  • Interpret complex environmental regulations and determine applicability to facility/program customer processes utilizing knowledge of environmental law and basic principles of chemistry and mathematics.

  • Communicate company environmental policy and regulatory requirements/interpretations to facility/program customers.

  • Assist customers in resolving environmental compliance issues, and provide support and/or oversight for facility day-to-day operations, including permit compliance, waste management, chemical management, environmental reporting, engineering calculations, recordkeeping, and other environmental activities.

  • Support ATR customers by preparing or reviewing documents, including Environmental Compliance Permits, air permitting applicability determinations (APADs), engineering design documents/drawings, and work planning documents to ensure implementation of environmental requirements.

  • Work independently and work with division staff and management.

  • Collaborate on the implementation of ISO 14001 and other critical company initiatives, and ensure work is conducted in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Follow all relevant health and safety requirements. Be knowledgeable of emergency action policies and procedures, and methods of reporting/resolving work practices to available cognizant professionals.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Level 2: BS Degree in a related area, preferably in science or engineering plus 2 yrs. experience or MS Degree with 1 yr. experience.

  • Level 3: BS Degree in a related area, preferably in science or engineering plus 5 yrs. experience or MS Degree with 3 yrs. experience.

  • US Citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L Security Clearance.

  • Functional understanding of environmental requirements and how to apply these requirements in the field.

  • Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Preferred Requirements:


  • Demonstrated experience in an area such as wastewater, drinking water, environmental sampling, radiological monitoring, air monitoring, modeling, or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis.
