Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a technical career as a Business Support Specialist.

This position will provide support to senior-level department, program, and project managers to facilitate execution of activities for multiple Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) programs and projects within the Infrastructure Assurance and Analysis (IAA) Division of the National & Homeland Security Directorate (N&HS). This position also supports the INL Resilience Optimization Center (IROC) executive director and DHS portfolio director in leadership support.

Responsibilities Include:


  • The position requires an advanced knowledge of senior leadership support, business and project management principles, logistical management, customer handling, and external presence/branding.

  • DHS programs have grown significantly at INL, combined with needs for leadership support with IROC, needing additional leadership support. This position works closely with IAA management team, technical experts, DHS program management team, IROC leadership team, and CISA customers to increase information sharing, enhance branding and reputation, and scope and execute work effectively and efficiently.

  • This person will support meetings with external customers and stakeholders, collaborate with project managers to provide solutions to difficult issues associated with multiple related projects as well as contribute to all aspects of their execution including development of programmatic work scopes, budgets, schedules, resource plans, monthly reports, anticipate staffing needs, and establish policies and standards for documentation and configuration control.

  • The candidate must exhibit professional maturity and judgment to recognize and proactively manage potential issues and conflicts related to internal processes and resources as well as external customer needs and requirements.

  • The employee will actively support a work culture aligned with INL mission, vision, and values; promote open communication, both formal and informal, to develop mutual trust and teamwork within the program; anticipate change and adjust promptly and effectively.

  • Successful execution of this position will aid in establishing organizational credibility and rapport with customers and maintain communication with stakeholders at multiple levels within and outside the organization.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Baccalaureate & 5 Years Experience, Master's Degree and 3 Years Experience or a PhD and 2 Years Experience

  • Preferred degree/education: Business Administration and/or Project Management.
