Job Description:

Summit Bodyworks is a leading manufacturer of custom truck bodies and other truck related equipment. Our state of the art manufacturing facility in Fort Lupton is looking for someone to join the team and lead the fabrication department. This position will manage the fabrication workforce. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Plans and coordinates fabrication department activities to ensure on time delivery dates are achieved.

  • Actively works with internal team to drive continuous improvement throughout all aspects of the fabrication department.

  • Works with other department managers to provide, develop and communicate department resource planning requirements, including personnel, material and tooling needs.

  • Responsible for budget, quality and delivery commitments to both internal and external customers.

  • Provides strong leadership skills and experience in leading fabrication teams.

  • Demonstrates proficiency and ability to train in all aspects of metal fabrication, including welding processes, sheet metal forming, CNC plasma cutting & machining and other miscellaneous metal fabrication activities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES


  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.

  • Requires frequent standing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods.

  • Requires working in areas which are not ventilated or air-conditioned.

  • Requires the ability to read various printed and electronic reports, computer terminal screens; etc.

  • Work with the team on continual improvements to processes and procedures.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, maintain and wear all required person protective equipment.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constant demands and shifting priorities.

  • Requires multi-tasking on many projects at once.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS


  • Experience being a hands on leader, able to coach, mentor and effectively develop a high performance team.

  • Strong ability to solve problems & maintain flexibility across various fabrication projects.

  • Experience with robotic automation systems & processes a plus.

  • Experience applying LEAN best practices in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience and/or familiarity working with the following equipment - CNC plasma cutting, sheet metal press brakes, sheet metal shearing, CNC milling/machine, welding processes for materials, including aluminum, mild steel and stainless steel.

  • Excellent attention to detail, strong work ethic and a great attitude.

  • Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and Post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
