Inventory Specialist

The main responsibility of this person will be to keep track of the pipe inventory for McWane Ductile-Utah. They will be responsible for leading the team on monthly inventories completed on one Saturday per month. They will also be responsible to cycle count pipe accessories. This person will be part of the sales team and will have additional responsibilities within that department. They will also work closely with the Continuous Improvement, Quality, Shipping and Accounting departments.

Work Environment: Primarily office work but at times will be required to spend time in the pipe yard outside in all weather conditions.

Physical Demands: Standing for long periods of time, work that may involving lifting up to 25 lbs.

Position type and expected outs of work: Full time hours, typical work schedule is 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Additional hours as needed and schedule subject to change. One Saturday a month is required.

Travel: Minimal



Responsibilities

Responsibilities Include:


  • Maintain yard inventory

  • Maintain the pipe accessories in the storeroom and keep an accurate count.

  • Manage and organize monthly inventory counts; these are usually done on the last Saturday of a month.

  • Work closely with the shipping department, to ensure orders are shipped correctly.

  • Work closely with the quality department to correct issues that may create a customer complaint.

  • Ensure pipe is touched up, gauged correctly and is up to customer specifications.

  • Monitor UPS shipments.

  • Help correct bill of lading errors.

  • Check pipe in the inventory, which requires outside work in the summer and winter.

  • Work as a backup to our inside sales team, cross-training in all positions.

  • Work closely with the company controller to resolve root causes of inventory discrepancies.



Qualifications

Desired Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree, in business or related field or 5 years’ experience in inventory control

  • Strong oral and written communication and skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power-point) and database usage. Proficient experience in Excel is particularly important.
