Under the direction of the Practice Manager, the Practice Support Assistant is responsible for assisting practice staff (physicians, physician's assistants, front desk staff and surgical schedulers) with their evaluation and treatment of patients during office visits and other administrative tasks related to patient care, consistent with the intern's training and skills. His/her primary roles are to assure efficient patient flow through the office; to accurately and efficiently process medical record updates, provider orders, and administrative forms; to maintain neat, clean, safe and properly stocked patient care and work areas; and to promote patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create a positive experience for every patient
Greet and assist patients and family members in a professional, friendly, hospitable manner
Complete and process necessary forms to support patient and practice needs
Accurately record patient information as necessary in patients' electronic medical record (EMR)
Prepare patient charts for provider clinics
Answer telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner with efficiency
Ensure the lobby, exam rooms, and other areas around the center are adequately supplied, neat and organized
Other duties as assigned
High School diploma.
Effective communication skills. Sound judgment and problem-solving ability.
Strong customer focus.
Proficiency in Microsoft software products and comfort in learning new systems (Epic, supply ordering)
Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks in a busy environment and see them through to completion.
Accuracy and attention to detail in record keeping.
Positive and energetic attitude. Team player with willingness to pitch in.
Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program
Previous medical office experience. Knowledge of medical office / orthopedic terminology
Cardiac-Pulmonary Resuscitation and Basic Life Support certification
