Location: Boston, Massachusetts
The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition is looking for a RN to work in our outpatient ambulatory clinic in the Yawkey Building. The RN will provide competent, compassionate nursing care based on scientific principles and the use of standard nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, evaluation, planning and implementation). Specific patient care duties will include, but are not limited to the following: Performing telephone triage in collaboration with NPs and relays care plans and other pertinent information to and from other providers Observing, reporting, and documenting in the electronic medical record relevant patient information and interactions with patients Collaborating with providers who oversee patients that appropriate care is done for a variety of patient populations Providing most Rx refills requests and sending to provider, test results per the providers documentation and/or written consent Providing and maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients and families Providing and Assisting with School Letter and letters for medication review for insurances Assisting in scheduling conflicts, communicating with patients and families for providers at time of appointment.
The RN will collaborate with his/her respective staff members and with other practice personnel in maintaining standards of quality care and service. In this capacity, he/she will: Participate and assist in running monthly staff meetings Participate in the orientation of new permanent and temporary staff Appropriately utilize nursing resources from NPs and practice manuals Participate and contribute in quality assurance and ongoing quality improvement and development efforts, including the staff duties manual 3. The RN will participate in daily care team activities that are conducive to the comfort and safety of patients, their families and GI staff. He/she will: Appropriately utilize equipment and supplies Ensure code cart is checked each morning Provide input to his/her care team and leadership regarding practice needs and possible areas for improvement 4. The RN efforts would include: Maintaining and updating clinical knowledge, skills, and yearly competencies based on MGH policies and procedures and current nursing education practices. Collaborating with his/her teams and GI leadership to identify goals and learning experiences Adhering to MGH policies and procedures, and to MGH Nursing guidelines, in regards to ongoing training requirements
Registered Nurse, Massachusetts licensure Current CPR BSN preferred; BSN required for new grad nurses.3 years of nursing experience, excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills in person, via the telephone and with electronic communications. Comfortable and competent in speaking and presentation efforts Superb process improvement and team building methods and skills. Ability to work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated intellectual independence and initiative and willingness to learn new skills. Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to organize time and priorities effectively, asking for direction when appropriate. Flexibility and proven ability to handle multiple tasks and deadline pressures. Experience with common PC computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Comfortable in a practice environment/culture that promotes ongoing change toward process improvement. Normal office conditions. Will be provided with computer and own office space and other equipment/supplies necessary to perform outlined duties.
