Bulfinch Temporary Service is hiring temp to perm Medical Assistant (for the right candidate) in Cardiac Surgery!

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing team! Please note this position is not benefits eligible unless it transitions over to regular status/permanent, but that is not guaranteed.

Under the direction of the Administrative Manager and the Lead NP for Outpatient Practice the Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians and nurse practitioners with evaluation, management and treatment of patients during office visits and other task related to the visit consistent with their training and skills. The Medical Assistant's role is to assure efficient patient flow through the office, to maintain neat, clean and safe patient care areas, and to promote patient satisfaction by interacting with patients in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs.

Greet patient in waiting room and escort to exam room

Utilize two appropriate patient identification methods for each patient in compliance with regulations

Instructs patient how to prepare for visit (changing into gown etc.)

Perform vital signs assessment including height and weight and enter into Epic

Review medications and allergies and enter into Epic

Perform EKGs

Perform selected procedures including suture/stable removal

Implement wound care under direct supervision of provider

Review the daily schedule of patients and facilitate efficient patient flow

Maintain a clean, uncluttered atmosphere for patient care.

Disinfect and prepare clinic rooms before and after each patient visit and conduct clinic in a hygienic manner in keeping with infection control guidelines

Maintain medical supplies in stock room and order as necessary

Ensure appropriate stocking of all exam rooms with medical supplies and all printed materials necessary for efficient patient care.

Complete disability/FMLA and write back to work forms/letters

Schedule tests (MRI, CTs, etc. as directed by provider

Performs designated tasks related to tracking test results; i.e. dental, PCN testing, etc. and may communicate normal test results to patients as directed by provider. Communicates normal tests results as directed

Download images from outside hospital

Scan consent forms and documents from outside hospitals into Epic


High School Diploma Required

Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program

Clinical Skills Requirements

  • Patient vital sign assessment

  • Ability to use scale and measure patient height and weight

  • Basic wound care knowledge

Technical Skills Requirement

  • Order Entry

  • Epic charts and cadence

  • Microsoft Outlook

Interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

  • Excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent organization skills, flexibility to manage multiple tasks with accuracy

  • Safety/Compliance

  • Knowledge in aspects of safety applicable to position

  • Knowledge of and compliance with institutional, TJC, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies' standards.
