Job Description:

The Senior Graphic Designer, Integrated Marketing and Communications, will strategize, envision, and create original print and digital fundraising materials for the Massachusetts General Hospital Development Office. As a key member of the Creative Services team, design projects will include event save-the-dates, invitations and programs; reports, case statements, proposals, presentations, and brochures; emails, web pages and motion graphics; and collateral for The Campaign for Mass General.


The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is creative, detail-oriented, flexible, and actively stays ahead of industry trends. The candidate should also be client-focused and able to collaborate with a multitude of teams/program areas across the Development Office and hospital.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities



  • In collaboration with the Director of Creative Services, own designs from concept to final execution, tracking schedules and staying within deadlines.

  • Serve as design lead for the newly relaunched giving website, including providing layouts for web pages, conducting photo research, and building pages as needed.

  • Design various pieces of digital content including emails, web banners, web-ready motion graphics, social media assets and more.

  • Help lead the implementation of the new Mass General Brigham brand across the Development Office. Serve as a resource for colleagues on brand assets and best practices related to the new brand.

  • Attend project kickoff and lead discussion on how design could meet client's goals; document and translate design goals and requirements.

  • Create and deliver thoughtful design presentations to clients across the office or at the hospital.

Work with the director of Creative Services to provide design feedback and mentorship to junior graphic designer. Collaborate as a team on high profile design projects.

  • Oversee designs through the review process, collect and incorporate edits through multiple iterations until project completion.

  • Provide printing recommendations and specs. Interface with printers and mail houses on file preparation, production and mailing of print projects.

  • Assist Mass General's Marketing, Public Affairs and Photography Department with high profile design requests as needed.

  • Supervise the work of external vendors for web and print design, production, photography as needed.

  • Be proactive in identifying and creating design products needed by fundraising teams.

  • Serve as an in-house resource for last minute and high priority design requests

  • Contribute to maintaining positive office morale, even in the face of challenges and high work volume.

  • Take part in broader office-wide duties and responsibilities as needed/requested from Development leadership.

  • Adhere to the mission, credo and standards of behavior of Mass General Hospital.






Qualifications

Qualifications:



This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design and a minimum of 5-7 years of related or transferable graphic design experience. A visual portfolio is required.


In addition, the ideal candidate should also possess the following skills, abilities and attributes:

  • Advanced knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, After Effects, Microsoft Office Suite

  • Proficient in CSS and HTML. Familiarity with WordPress a plus

  • Proficient with collaborative prototyping tool such as Figma

  • Familiarity with project management platforms such as Basecamp or Asana

  • Experience with pre-production and printing

  • Experience working in a client-based setting

  • Ability to learn and implement Mass General Brand Standards

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Interest in working in a non-profit setting
