Job Description

The Post is hiring a senior recruiting consultant to help us systematize the way we recruit, hire and onboard staffers in our award-winning newsroom.

This recruiter will build an infrastructure for candidate tracking, hiring new employees and welcoming them into the newsroom, working closely with the senior editor for newsroom recruiting. The person in this role will be primarily responsible for the systemic and logistical aspects of our hiring process. This role is critical to the fulfillment of our strong commitment to diversity in our newsroom.

Job duties include:

  • Coordination of candidate outreach.

  • Working with Human Resources on many aspects of the hiring process, inc l uding to better connect the newsroom to our personnel management software, Workday.

  • Handling logistics for recruiting outreach events.

  • Serving as a point of contact for questions about the hiring process from managers and new hires and working with those managers to draft and manage job postings.

  • Serving as a primary contact for candidates along and working with newsroom administrators to schedule candidate interviews

  • Conducting screenings and candidate interviews

  • Processing offer details to Human Resources for all full-time, part-time and contract employees.

  • Working closely with the newsroom operations and logistics editors to implement new hire training and develop and refine onboarding guides and procedures.

Preferred job experience:

  • Five or more years recruiting for a large organization, managing 15 or more open positions at one time.

  • Facility in using a CRM, Applicant Tracking System or similar tracking tool.

  • Experience interviewing candidates against job criteria.

  • Experience recruiting nationally and internationally preferred.

  • Experience sourcing passive candidates for difficult-to-fill positions.

  • Adept at building relationships and trust with hiring managers and candidates.

  • Familiarity with newsroom workflows, positions and structures.

  • Experience collaborating and communicating respectfully and inclusively with others.

This position, which is part of a major expansion of The Post's editing ranks, is based in our Washington newsroom. Once we resume normal operations, it will not be eligible for remote work.
