1. Clinical & Professional Practice: Demonstrates clinical nursing expertise and professional competency through the planning, implementation and management of programs that support the health, safety, and well-being of employees.
a. Performs pre-placement health assessment on prospective employees including drug screening, immunization and health histories, and when required respiratory fit testing. Accurately identifies areas in need of further exploration and evaluation to determine fitness for duty. Provides guidance for reasonable accommodation.
b. Demonstrates clinical expertise in the assessment & follow through for employees' health concerns. Refers employee to appropriate provider for injury and illness assessments and exposure evaluation. Manages injuries/illnesses and exposures according to Workers' Comp, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
c. Provides accurate assessments, treatments, counseling and/or referrals as deemed indicated. Serves as a resource and consultant for any workplace health related concerns. Coordinates and implements programs that support the health and well-being of employees.
d. Effectively coordinates and administers immunization and screening programs reaching eligible employees as demonstrated by employee compliance.

2. Employee Health - collaborates in consultation and referrals for employees with Human Resources and the Epidemiologist Practitioner
. Provides pre-placement and drug screen collections according to policies, procedures and established protocols appropriately.
a. Maintains close communication with the injured employee and medical providers.
b. Provides guidance to employees when injuries occur while or exposed to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens or chemical hazards at work. Trends information.
c. Collects data for the Safety Committee and promotes effective safety and infection control practices among employees in the environment.
d. Participates in hospital-wide employee vaccination programs, such as the seasonal flu clinics.
e. Demonstrates timely response and resolution to employees' questions/concerns.

3. Workers' Compensation & Benefit Programs: Coordinates the Organization's workers' compensation with TAD programs and implements case management strategies for specific departments.
. Demonstrates expertise with the provisions of the NH Workers' Compensation Act and collaborates with WC case managers for all claims at each facility (WDH, WHP). Supports and assists with the coordination and implementation of other select HR benefit programs.
a. Processes employee injury reporting and& associated documents in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with insurance, legal &regulatory requirements.
b. Provides feedback to directors and supervisors regarding employee workers' compensation issues, employee injury reports, return to work status and concerns relative to employees' health in the workplace. Encourages and is involved in training managers and supervisors for workers' compensation management.
c. Works collaboratively to develop, recommend, and/or implement policies & practices and work improvement initiatives that support employee prevention of workplace injury and illness & cost-containment for work-related injury/illness.
d. Acts as the Case Manager for employees who are injured on the job; to coordinate with the manager and the Human Resources Department areas of opportunities for employees to return to work through the TAD program assignments and contracts.
e. Serves to insure appropriate and timely interventions and treatments, monitors workplace injuries and illnesses for trends and makes recommendations for problem/hazard resolution. Represents Organization for any legal matters associated with specific claims as requested

4. Quality Improvement & Leadership: Actively participates in the attainment of Hospital's strategic plan--goals and objectives.
. Effectively coordinates drug screening for pre-employment health assessment and for cause associated with Organization's Drug Free Workplace Plan. Participates in employee exposure control planning and other Safety programs.
a. Leads and/or participates in various committees such as Safety Committee, Disability team, Ergonomics Committee and Infection Control, Joint Loss and hospital community events such as the Employee Fair.
b. Works with the Hospital Epidemiology Practitioner to integrate the infection control program with the employee health program sharing new information and recommendations from CDC/other sources such as OSHA, to review and update policies and to initiate appropriate follow-up for communicable disease/contacts.
c. Collaborates and partners with Human Resources to promote HR mission and values related to employee health and wellness.

5. Professional Development - Acquires and maintains current knowledge and competency in nursing professional practice
. Participates in ongoing educational activities related to practice area and professional issues.
a. Acquires knowledge and skills appropriate to the specialty area and practice setting.
b. Seeks / maintains certification.
c. Shares information/in services, interacting with others as valued colleagues.

6. Leadership - Works constructively with colleagues to advance clinical practice
. Participates & makes contributions to unit based and/or organization-wide committees/programs which improve patient care and/or administrative systems.
a. Develops/revises guidelines for employee health patient care.
b. Demonstrates awareness in research findings applicable to area of practice, critically analyzes studies to justify and/or modify standards for professional practice & conduct personal/professional development activities


Experience Minimum Required

o 3 years acute care experience, excellent customer service skills, policy and procedure development

Experience Preferred/Desired

o Greater than one year working in employee health and/or occupational health medicine.
o Knowledge in vaccination scheduling, tracking, and delivery.
o Employee wellness initiatives, worker's compensation, case management of employees retuning to the work environment.

o Counseling skills, tracking, active member in Occupational Health related committees such as Infection Control, and Safety.
o Effective communication and listening skills to the employee.
