An American Company is seeking an Android Developer in Richmond, VA.

Role Description

• Build and design advanced native Android applications on the Android platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and design new features
• Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and reliability
• Work on bugs and improve application performances
• Build, deploy, and support large, world-class enterprise-level solutions
• Consult with clients in multiple industries such as retail, agriculture, education and financial services to name a few
• Work with product managers and UI/UX designers to create a secure, seamless mobile experience.
• Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality code
• Write and maintain high performance, reusable, and reliable Java and Kotlin code
• Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
• Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation

Skills & Requirements

• Strong knowledge of the Android SDK and Android Studio, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
• Ability to take designs and translate them into working and accurate UI
• Experience with offline storage and threading

Preferred Skills
• Experience managing multiple themes and styles across an application
• Ability to account for accessibility services like TalkBack (focusability, content descriptions, accessibility delegates, etc.)
• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications (i.e. Firebase)
• Experience using Dependency Injection (e.g. Dagger 2/Hilt)
• Has completed a relevant Certification (e.g. Google's Associate Android Developer certification)
• Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
• Familiarity with the use of additional sensors, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers
