Position Summary:

SomaLogic is seeking a?Sr. Manager, Data Warehouse?to join the IT team and work closely with enterprise architecture, customers, business partners, security, and senior leadership across core business units and bioinformatics to lead the build-out of SomaLogic’s data warehouse platform, including an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), potentially a bioinformatics data warehouse (BIDW), and data visualization/tools. This includes collaborating with internal and vendor teams to define strategic solutions, detail requirements, and develop designs, analytics, dashboards, and reports based on the analysis of customer and business needs, as well as organizational objectives.

The Sr. Manager shall continue building out an employee team, invest in and develop team culture, mature the team delivery strategy, and ensure corporate goal alignment. The Sr. Manager should possess strong technical skills in data warehousing to help drive design, development, and implementation of assigned data and reporting products, should be able to work under minimal supervision, and should ensure product alignment with overall enterprise vision with the fortitude and proven ability to drive action through results to accomplish that vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with cross-departmental business partners, data/BI engineers and own the end-to-end delivery of the data warehouse platform improvements, which includes documenting and prioritizing user stories, maintaining a backlog, demoing solution designs, testing and releasing changes into a Production Data Warehouse environment
  • Capture and analyze requests from teams across Finance, Marketing, Sales, Product, Bioinformatics, and other teams to define data needs and prioritize roadmap
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on assigned data warehouse products and systems
  • Serve as trusted advisor to peers and partners
  • Communicate clearly and frequently to project teams and leadership on status of assigned initiatives and projects
  • Drive the sprint planning development working with technology partners in an agile environment
  • Monitor product KPIs and ensure success metrics are being met
  • Perform the owner role for the data warehouse platforms and reports. Support the platform in production to ensure maximum throughout and assess/prioritize defects ensuring business excellence
  • Support legacy EDW environment on a Microsoft stack with PowerBI
  • Ensure the platform technologies are properly managed from a cost/license perspective, are properly sized, are highly secure, and can scale
  • Coordinate with other technical teams to ensure appropriate end-to-end architectures and pipelines are implemented
  • Maintain an expert knowledge of the data warehouse system and the platform’s future direction
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture to ensure technical standards are defined and implemented
  • Work with Regulatory and Security groups to ensure compliance and security requirements are implemented and followed
  • Build team by hiring resources and provide mentoring, career development and coaching for team members

Education?and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; preferred majors include Computer Science or other technology related majors
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in data warehouse roles, including leadership in midsized to large companies

Knowledge,?Skills?and Abilities:

  • DAMA CDMP or TDWI CBIP certification
  • Experience with Talend, PowerBI, Tableau
  • Experience with Amazon Redshift,? PostGres, PostgreSQL,? Neo4j
  • Experience with Amazon stack - AWS, S3, Glue, SQS
  • Experience with Languages - TSQL, PL/SQL, Python, R, Java
  • Experience managing teams
  • Experience in a scientific discipline and/or working in a regulated environment, such as biotechnology, healthcare, or aerospace
  • Experience with Agile Release Management and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience working on delivery teams for data warehouse and/or big data projects
  • Experience with Data Warehouse techniques (data modeling, ETL, database systems, business intelligence, data lineage, data quality, master data management)
  • Exposure to SaaS business applications such as SFDC, D365, etc.
  • Strong SQL query experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing relationships and building consensus with diverse groups of stakeholders at multiple levels (managers, individual contributors, department heads, etc.)
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business and technical groups; ability to manage conflict to resolution\
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver multiple concurrent projects
  • Experience managing and coordinating external resources (contractors and service providers)
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, presentation/facilitation, and written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver enterprise level services in dynamic, mid-market growth companies; must be comfortable with ambiguity and able to drive toward clarity
  • Ability to create positive and high-performance work cultures
  • Experience with compliance frameworks including SOX, HIPAA, GDPR and PCI

Work preference is near Boulder, CO
