JOB SUMMARY:
Troubleshoots, operates and performs highly skilled emergency and routine repairs, including the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, appliance, carpentry, glass and lock trades. This is a second-shift position, from 4:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m., including weekend work. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
65% - Essential - Building Maintenance: Troubleshoots and makes emergency and routine plumbing repairs. Maintains and repairs sinks, toilets, showers, tubs, hot and cold supply lines and sewer lines. Sweats copper pipefittings and sections. Repairs and troubleshoots electrical systems, installs new electrical wiring, conduit and wire molding. Installs, repairs, and maintains lights and circuits for lighting, appliances and mechanical equipment. Modifies existing circuits to accommodate new construction and conduits. Diagnoses system troubles and repairs connections, breakers and grounding. Repairs HVAC fan coil units and unclogs drip pans. Repairs or adjusts door latches, frames and hinges. Performs emergency and routine carpentry repairs.
20% - Essential - Custodial Activities: Custodial/Maintenance: Replaces smoke detector batteries, blinds, fluorescent and incandescent light bulbs and replace ballast. Replace electric water heaters. Repair/ replace exit signs. Replace HVAC filters in Douthit Hills. Inspect mechanical rooms, hallway air handler closets for leaks. Maintain pool deck per DHEC requirements. Remove trash and recycle refuse from Big Belly containers and dispose of properly.
5% - Essential - Communication: Communicates daily with the supervisor and Area Manager to maintain consistent priorities. Communicates with Facilities Maintenance supervisors concerning work orders, scheduling, and project coordination. Responds to work requests as assigned.
5% - Essential - On-Call Support: Responds to callbacks for emergency situations and inclement weather.
5% - Essential - Safety & Compliance: Focus on campus safety program within shop. Compliance with daily/weekly Growl
schedule ensuring that work is performed in a safe manner. Compliance with all campus, state and federal safety regulations, including OSHA. Attendance of all mandatory safety trainings required on campus including but not limited to: asbestos, silica, ladder, fire extinguisher and FERPA. Compliance with all University Facilities and University policies, including but not limited to: fleet management and electronic device policies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A High School Diploma and trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000

Standard Hrs: 40; Expected Salary Range ($ 34,300.00 - $ 38,000.00)
