JOB OVERVIEW:

This position supports the production department and is responsible for the overall operation of potentially large-scale manufacturing machinery. The US Machine Operator I will set up, operate, adjust and oversee automatic or semi-automatic machinery that forms part of a wider manufacturing production process. The US Machine Operator will accomplish tasks in a way that supports the company's strong quality driven ethos.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Sets up and operate machinery and equipment required to manufacture product

  • Adjust the controls of a machine / equipment to exact positions

  • Meet required quotas specified for parts being produced to help department meet goals

  • Follows General Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

  • Meets safety, quality, productivity, and time standards

  • Performs simple visual inspections to detect differences between color shades and brightness

  • Reliable and regular attendance is required

  • Maintains cleanliness of work area

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required

SKILL:

Apply acquired job skills and company policy and procedures to complete assigned tasks.

COMPLEXITY:

Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognize the need to collaborate with team for occasional deviation from accepted practice.

SUPERVISION:

Work under close supervision and follow standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. Sometimes receive detailed instruction from supervisor to accomplish assigned tasks.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Typically, to advance to a new job level, TSMs must demonstrate professional behavior and should consistently be at the high-end of meets expectations or consistently exceed expectations.

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:


  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures, including WorldWide Business Standards.

  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.

  • Performing duties in a professional way, supporting Ortho Organizers' Quality Policy. Must understand, follow and comply with regulatory requirements as applicable to various processes. An understanding of FDA Quality System Regulations (21 CFR 820) and ISO Standards (ISO 13485) is required.

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position will be working in a production/manufacturing environment, utilizing typical manufacturing equipment.


  • Ability to engage in physical activities and manual labor, as required, including but not limited to: prolonged standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling and bending

  • Must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds

  • May encounter various environmental conditions such as hot and cool temperatures, hazardous items, noise, and dust


Qualifications

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

Typically 1 or more years of related experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

Typically High School education, vocational training and/or on-the-job training.
