Nice-Pak Products, Inc. (NP) is the global developer, manufacturer, and marketer of pre-moistened wipes for the consumer market, specializing in personal care, hygiene, household cleaning, and disinfection products.


We are currently looking for a Sr Nonwovens Engineer in our Montvale, NJ location.


POSITION PURPOSE:


This role aims to lead business-critical activities relating to the development and commercialization of nonwoven wet wipe products. The Senior Nonwoven Engineer is a high visibility position that is the primary technical contact for our suppliers and internal manufacturing sites for the optimization, development, and commercialization of wet wipes. The Senior Nonwoven Engineer will work with a broad range of manufacturing and technical resources at our suppliers and internal manufacturing sites to support achieving our objectives. This position will lead assigned projects and the day-to-day technical communication with our suppliers and work closely with Procurement, Marketing, and R&D to identify, develop, and commercialize new products. Additionally, this position will be responsible for all technical testing and validation of the nonwoven finished products internally and with partner suppliers.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:



  • Develop, test, and validate nonwoven fibers and new technologies for use in personal care and or surface cleaning wet wipe product applications in support of Private Label and Branded initiatives

  • Lead technical aspects on assigned projects through the product development process as key R&D representative, working cross-functionally with Marketing, Consumer Insights, Regulatory, Legal, and Operations

  • Work independently to coordinate required technical testing and experiments in support of projects and communicate results and recommendations to key project stakeholders

  • Partner with internal Operations/manufacturing colleagues and external converting partners to plan, schedule, and execute scale-up/production trials to advance key initiatives, issue trial reports summaries with results and recommendations.

  • Analyze data and provide insights and recommendations based on the data generated

  • Prepare samples as needed for external testing requirements, including customer comps/prototypes, samples for safety/clinical tests, consumer tests, etc.

  • Develop and validate new test methods to evaluate the performance of products/prototypes and to support product development, claims, and quality control

  • Ensure all project documentation (nonwoven specifications, etc.) is completed to achieve desired project milestones

  • Conduct competitive benchmarking to gain insight on nonwoven technologies used in competitive products and for comparative testing/claims support

  • Communicate and document project plans and results to key customers and suppliers.

  • Investigate new technologies and partner with Legal to protect novel findings through IP/patent filings technologies

  • Write/update new SOPs and product specifications as needed and route for collaboration review and approval

  • Ensure proper documentation in laboratory notebook and comply with all corporate safety and quality standards

  • Partners and works with suppliers around the globe to drive innovation for products and is a technical expert to ensure repeatable and reproducible quality/reliability during the life of the product.

  • Supervise any assigned technician or temporary personnel

QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Science (Chemistry or related field) and or Engineering (Chemical) or Textiles required. A Master's Degree is an advantage

  • Strong record of academic success


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:



  • Strong scientific principles (statistical analysis, Design of Experiments, Problem-solving, root cause analysis)

  • Strong understanding of nonwovens, nonwovens manufacturing processes, and the nonwovens supply chain. Previous experience of nonwovens used in personal care or surface cleaning is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of the product development process from concept ideation to launch and experience with product qualifications.

  • Airlaid manufacturing experience is preferred


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • 5+ years of experience in a nonwovens technical function or related technical function (technical textiles, fibers, etc.) with an understanding of the materials and processes within the nonwoven and wipes supply chain

WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Some travel domestically and potentially internationally (up to 25%)
