Join our team to create your better tomorrow.The SQE participates in selection of suppliers in the design and development phase as well as the production phase to ensure that the supplier's current and future capabilities will meet the company's needs. This individual develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure PSIs, AS9100 accreditation, and company's quality standard. They will act as the Supplier quality representative on Design and Development teams, and ensures that the supplier selection process is followed in accordance to the company guidelines. The SQE will conduct Supplier Scorecard review to assess suppliers on their ability to meet quality, delivery, and service targets. They also will conduct Supplier audits and ensure supplier implements and maintains any resulting corrective action program, through the SCAR program, and ensure timely closure of SCARs by suppliers.

The SQE will audit and evaluate suppliers' internal processes to assess their overall compliance to the organization, customer, and regulatory requirements, including the monitoring of sub-suppliers, and provides feedback to improve their operation. This individual will develop world class Suppliers Management Program using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies. The SQE will support product transfers to contract manufacturing sites, and participate in development of required Quality Plans, and protocols. They will be responsible for mentoring and training of new department members. The SQE will develop supplier related Quality metrics for presentation to Sr. management monthly as well as during the project reviews.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Maintain regular contact and communication with Suppliers including regular site visits as appropriate.
  • Ensure that supplier develop effective corrective actions on quality and delivery problems.
  • Communicate manufacturability information from suppliers to Rexnord PSI engineering.
  • Contribute to development, monitor adherence to and contribute to continuous improvement process innovation activities pertaining to PSI Quality Procedure Standards for Supplier Engagement.
  • Project Manage all contracts with new suppliers and all new contracts with existing suppliers (within scope of the project), pulling together the appropriate team members and planning for success.
  • Partner with and serve as ongoing communication link between the supplier and Rexnord PSI Supplier Quality Manager, Project Leader, Quality, and all other Rexnord PSI personnel.
  • Key interface between the supplier and Rexnord PSI for all issues in the supplier engagement process, with the authority to escalate significant delivery, manufacturing, cost, or quality issues to appropriate team members as required.
  • Monitor and report on operational performance at the overall subcontract and at the individual supplier level on critical supply chain metrics including on-time delivery, cost, and quality.
  • Work withOperations teams to determine future demand requirements and properly match with supplier capability and performance.
  • Track supplier performance on schedule and quality
  • Hold periodic meeting with Supplier Quality Manager and other Quality associates to discuss and drive improvement in performance.
  • Audit supplier to insure they have process well defined and that they are following the processes.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure that measurement systems are adequate and to achieve a Cpk=1.6 on critical to quality characters.
  • Ensure that proper control plans are in place for changes in the new parts, changes in old parts and change to the supplier process.
  • Insure effectiveness of supplier root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Desirable Experience, Capabilities and Success Factors:

  • BS or BA degree in Manufacturing/Industrial/Quality/Aerospace Engineering or Operations/Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience.
  • Four (4) years experience in Supplier Quality Engineering
  • Willingness to travel domestically 40%.
  • Hands on non-academic exposure to quality system requirements of AS9100 or ISO 9001.
  • Hands on non-academic exposure and understanding of basic quality tools such as Gage R&R, Process capability, FMEAs, and control plans experience.
  • Certified ASQ Quality Engineer
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
  • Extensive knowledge of either machining or metal processing techniques
  • This position requires the applicant to be a US Person with a US permanent residence per ITAR guidlines. A US Person is a US Citizen or Green card holder.
