About the Position

The Plant Systems Inventory Control Specialist position is responsible for providing overall administration of inventory control management in support of manufacturing and distribution. This position will develop, implement, execute and maintain processes and procedures that ensure timely, accurate and consistently reliable inventory management information. In addition, this position will maintain ownership for all information generated by inventory information systems.  Will also act as a liaison to the corporate I.S. department in identifying and resolving system and software problems, assisting with upgrades of hardware/software and processing requests.

  • Investigates and resolves issues related to inventory transaction discrepancies using sound problem solving techniques, and implements required changes to eliminate reoccurrence.

  • Generates, analyzes, and audits for accuracy and completeness daily and monthly inventory reports that are used in conjunction with plant manufacturing performance and other financial operating reports.

  • Develops and implements procedures for rejected, damaged, reworked product associated with the manufacturing and distribution process to ensure accurate financial accounting within the inventory systems.

  • Writes standard operating procedures for all aspects of inventory transaction processing.

  • Develops and delivers training to employees involved in inventory transaction processing.

  • Develops and attains inventory management standards and goals to support plant and finance department objectives.

  • Manages activities and administration that identify and resolve issues related to obsolete, excessive, or overage products.

  • Establishes routine audits and verification procedures of inventory transactions including consistent cycle count program.

  • Serves as Site Inventory Systems Administrator providing oversight of host system transaction reconciliations, functional access and security, and cycle counts.

  • Perform testing of system changes/upgrades within the plant.

  • Provide general system training for new employees on related systems.

  • Serves as a liaison with corporate IS to ensure prompt problem identification and resolution for systems issues.

Education and/or Experience:


  • 4-year Business degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 3 years inventory control experience

  • 2 years bar code technology inventory system experience preferred

  • Manufacturing background with automated inventory preferred

 Attendance:

 Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone along with reaching. Specific vision abilities include close vision requirements due to computer work. Moderate noise, ability to work in a confined area, and ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time are also included.  Ability to effectively communicate and work in a dynamic environment.
