The Materials Supervisor is responsible for daily operations of receiving, warehousing and distribution operations by coordinating and implementing program, operational and personnel policies and procedures.  Meets weekly operational requirements through effective resource planning.


 ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:



  • Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by implementing, coordinating and enforcing program, operational and personnel policies and procedures.  Complying with federal, state and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements set forth by the organization. Advises management on needed actions. 

  • Implements warehouse operations systems set forth by the organization on product handling and storage requirements; advising, enforcing and developing policies and procedures for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management and shipping.

  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by enforcing and monitoring security

  • Conducts cycle and physical counts to control inventory integrity.  Addresses issues and improvements with personnel. 

  • Plans for receiving materials through facility transfers and maintains predetermined inventory levels on all materials. 

  • Ensures that all required materials needed for production for the following day are available in the facility and staged for use. 

  • Ensures the correct replenishment thru transferring and/or procurement.

  • Maintains warehouse physical conditions through planning and enforcing sanitation standards, operational procedures and equipment inspections; requests work orders for repairs and replacement of equipment.

  • Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.  Coordinates loading/unloading activities to ensure that all deliveries meet the guidelines set forth by the organization.

  • Implements and develops process improvements in all areas involving materials and finished goods handling and delivery.

  • Maintains warehouse staff by orienting, training and developing strengths of the personnel; counseling, disciplining, and appraising job results of employees.

  • Implements and adjusts standard work assignments of direct reports to supports department shipping, receiving demands along with promoting safety objectives.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Ensures the facility is safe to perform the required warehouse functions and that the employees are aware of all safety procedures and report all safety incidents as soon a possible.

  • Is recognized as a subject matter expert in warehouse operations within the organization.

  • Maintains an exemplary working relationship with operations, planning, inventory, human resources, safety and freight teams to ensure the highest levels of performance for his/her team.

  • Working with maintenance, ensures that all freezer units are performing as scheduled, at proper temperature and a safe working environment is maintained.

  • Attends company scheduled meetings when applicable (i.e., Safety meetings, production meetings, department meetings)

  • Informs management of any problems or complications that may arise.

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.

 In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:



  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.

  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.  Must follow all Company Safety policies, as well as all GMP regulations and all lock-out/tag-out requirements according to OSHA requirements.

  • As part of your supervisory responsibility and as a back-up, supervisors must be able to do your work in ways that ensure safe food. You must also be aware of issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your job. Formal training is not required, but in house Food Safety Training conducted by a qualified staff member is mandatory. You must know how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards. This position requires good working knowledge of the SQF code

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:


Minimum of High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3-5 years Supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment.  Food Manufacturing experience a plus.  Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.  He/she must be able to identify and analyze constraint processes and implement solutions.  Must be bi-lingual.
