PURPOSE:

To maintain slurry system for shipment to secondary processor and to assist the Process and Dryer Operators in maintaining line flow at budgeted throughputs yields.

SUMMARY:

To maintain slurry system for shipment to secondary processor and ensure the Single Pass Process and the Dryer is running smoothly by relieving Operators and communicating with all crewmembers. Assist Operators as needed to maximize throughputs and yield, while minimizing waste and downtime.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Tree Top operational policies, safety rules, procedures and good manufacturing practices.

It is the responsibility of every employee at Tree Top Inc. to report food safety and food quality problems or risks to personnel with the authority to initiate action against these said possible risks. The Organization chart indicated key personnel with the authority to take action.

Regular & Predictable Attendance is essential to this position.

  1. Supply Appropriate Fruit to Process:


  1. Help maintain proper fruit blend by communicating to dumpers and relevant issues with raw product

  2. Maintain appropriate dump tank level to supply fruit meeting the process flow requirements


  1. Operate and Maintain Equipment:


  1. Monitor Atlas peelers to ensure they are achieving/maintaining target of 80 % feed 60% finished 20% reject.

  2. Monitor conveyor systems

  3. Ensure seed reel is functioning.

  4. Ensure dip tanks are supplied to meet customer's chemical specifications.

  5. Ensure Urschels are functioning properly and cutting correctly.

  6. Monitor and adjust temperatures to desired heat needed when relieving Dryer Operator.

  7. Monitor Disintegrator system

  8. Execute change over procedures at direction of Supervisor.

  9. Adjust equipment for quality (defects, peel, sulfites) and for maximum yield.

  10. Relieve Single Pass Lift Truck Operator for breaks as necessary.

  11. Assist Single Pass Lift Truck Operator when work load requires.

  12. Monitor and add sodium sulfite as necessary to maintain directed SO2 levels in flume.

  13. Add sugar, fructose, and malic acid when needed.

  14. Separate seeds for Morton.

  15. Maintain slurry system

  16. Operates and maintains Optical Sorter.


  1. Maintain/Monitor Quality Levels:


  1. Check Atlas peelers output for seed cell removal and peeling efficiency.

  2. Ensure odd shaped/unacceptable fruit is removed at pre-inspection area.

  3. Ensure incoming fruit meets process standards.


  1. Communicate Effectively:


  1. Coordinate with Lift Truck drivers to blend tickets to maximize throughput.

  2. Communicate with co-workers regarding process status/needs.

  3. Contact mechanic when mechanical problems arise.

  4. Receive specifications and start up settings from Supervisor/Operator.

  5. Communicate product information with Process Operator regularly.

  6. Record and document data on variance reports, make adjustments as directed

  7. Communicate issues with slurry schedule.


  1. Manage Slurry Tanks:


  1. Change valves to direct slurry to appropriate tank.

  2. Pump slurry to tanks or truck as directed.

  3. Operate disintegrators, pumps, tanks and augers.

  4. Test slurry for brix level/pH Total Acidity.

  5. Operate finisher as directed.

  6. Properly clean slurry system as required.


  1. Complete Paperwork:


  1. Complete slurry tank documentation, tanker bill of lading, brix levels, etc.

  2. Give paperwork to shift Supervisor.

  3. Complete Slurry CIP Procedure Documentation with working knowledge of chemical titrations and pH.

  4. Record waste.

  5. Communicate seal verification to Supervision

  6. Ensure raw product pressure sheets are completed.


  1. Operate Forklift as Required:


  1. Transport sulfite to Urschel area as needed (Plastic pallets only).

  2. Assist other Lift Truck drivers when time and process allow.


  1. Perform Cleaning Duties:


  1. Foam machines and equipment to clean.

  2. CIP tanks and slurry line.

  3. Utilize shovel, broom, squeegee and hose as needed.

  4. Rinse peelers.


  1. Perform Shutdown Procedures:


  1. Ensure product is removed from process.

    1. Ensure no cross contamination from cleaning process into slurry.



  2. Ensure all ingredients are removed from process and returned to warehouse on clean pallets.

  3. Disassemble disintegrator



  1. Perform Startup Procedures:


    1. Ensure all slurry tanks have been pre-cleaned prior to processing

    2. Proper flume levels and conveyance is on

    3. Ensure proper sortation at optical sorter




  1. Assist in Operation of Process:


  1. Assist Process/Dryer Operator with process duties as required.

  2. Communicate to the crew all product specific information as directed by Process Operator or Supervisor.

  3. Assist co-workers with questions/process needs.

  4. Assist Process Operator with blending and single pass Lift Truck Operator.

  5. Assist with all startup/shutdown procedures.


  1. Maintain Sanitary Process Area:


  1. Ensure contact surfaces are free of biological, chemical contamination.

  2. Assist crew in sanitation duties as needed.

  3. Maintain process area in a sanitary organized condition at all times.


  1. Contribute to Team Effort:


  1. Assist co-workers when possible

  2. Demonstrate teamwork


  1. Industrial and Food Safety:


  1. Follow proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures/standards

  2. Follow all Haz-Com and Chemical Safety procedures/standards

  3. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practice procedures and standards

  4. Follow all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point procedure/standards

  5. Wear required and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at all times

  6. Identify and address all unsafe conditions and unsafe acts - Report to supervisor on shift

  7. Follow all other applicable safety rules and regulations.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one-year position-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:


  • Ability to read, write, and speak and understand in English, in order to interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:


  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
