Primary Responsibilities: 

The Director works closely with the Middleware Product Owner and Release Train Engineer responsible for the planning, execution, and implementation of a wide variety of business outcomes.



  • Provides technical leadership and sets architectural guidelines for a Product Solution train.




  • Collaborates with other Journey Architects to drive alignment on technology strategies and cross Journey dependencies




  • Drives development and implementation of business-driven features




  • Follows the technology vision and target state and influences the adoption of architecture principles, patterns, and standards to the teams




  • Creates technology Enablers, Features, and Architectural Runway for each Program Increment and presents them at Pre-Planning and Planning events.




  • Understands business needs, performing analysis, and transforming them into technology designs and patterns




  • Aids in the analysis of short and long range business goals and recommends innovations which anticipates the future impact of changing business needs




  • Contributes to application roadmap and reference architecture to implement architecture standards. Ensure architecture patterns are built for reusability and can be easily adopted and leveraged.




  • Employs industry best practices to deliver world-class solutions. Ensure developed solutions remain compliant with all applicable Prudential standards




  • Manages a staff responsible for all phases of the system development and implementation process




  • Leads, supervises, or assists with incident and problem resolution activities by researching problems with a strong sense of ownership and develop solutions to address the problems




  • Enforces code quality through guidance on automated test suite activities



Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or experience in related fields




  • Strong knowledge of EA and Solution Architecture frameworks and best practices.




  • Experience in designing & implementing platforms to deliver at scale performance and highly available solutions




  • Experience architecting solutions which include various integration patterns




  • Deep knowledge of business processes and business and technical capabilities, preferably in the Insurance industry




  • Ability to execute upon a clear strategic vision for common application target state architecture that supports the enterprise and business strategies




  • Experience with agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD)




  • Excellent problem-solving techniques




  • Clear, professional communications (listening, oral and written communications) 




  • Strong relationship building and collaboration skills




  • Experience working with agile Scrum teams




  • Understanding of Middleware technology and Integration principles.




  • A successful candidate will possess 8+ years of experience with the following:



    • Experience in middleware integration design patterns and design methodology




    • Experience with IIB (IBM Integration Bus), webMethods, MQ, Service Oriented Architecture




    • Experience implementing service-oriented architecture (SOA) patterns




    • Experience with Web service technologies such as REST, JSON, SOAP, XML, JDBC, MySQL




    • Experienced in monitoring and logging techniques
