Summary

Process Attendants provide critical feedback from the field to the central control room and Production Supervisor on all aspects of production operations.  This is accomplished through field inspections, which results in trouble-shooting, corrective action or reporting that all conditions are acceptable. 
 

Essential Duties:


  • Maintains two-way radio communication at all times with control room operator or supervisor.

  • Assists in sampling procedures.

  • Inspects and cleans weigh feeders to ensure accuracy.

  • Observes bag houses to guard against air contamination.

  • Walk through preheater tower and look for air and material leaks, measure temperatures, and look for normal operating conditions.

  • Walk through kiln and clinker cooler area looking for proper operations.

  • Walk through finish mill circuit and inspect for equipment soundness, material leakage, air leaks, etc.

  • Maintains working area in a neat and orderly condition.

  • Understand process flow. Capable of troubleshooting production/process problems.

  • Feed tires to kiln burning system and unplugs chute as required.

  • Makes a complete inspection of the plant at least once per shift:

  • Walk through raw materials storage area and check for proper guarding, material flow, equipment soundness, etc.

  • Walk through raw mill grinding circuit and check for equipment soundness, material leaks, air leaks, etc.

  • Walk through preheater tower and look for air and material leaks, measure temperatures, and look for normal operating conditions.

  • Walk through kiln and clinker cooler area looking for proper operations.

  • Walk through finish mill circuit and inspect for equipment soundness, material leakage, air leaks, etc.

  • Ensure the highest regard and practice of plant safety policies and procedures.

  • Other job related duties as requested by supervision. May be required to operate loaders or other heavy equipment from time to time. Ensure the highest regard and practice of plant safety policies and procedures.

  • Maintain company standards for workplace cleanliness and organization.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • High school education or equivalent.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks that include walking, climbing equipment, working within confined spaces and lifting 50 lbs. or more.

  • Ability to drive and operate various equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, bobcat, etc.

  • Basic mathematic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentage calculations).

  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate extreme heat and cold temperatures.

  • Must be able to work rotating swing shift including 12-hour shifts.

  • Read, write and speak English fluently.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:


  • Cement Manufacturing -- Knowledge of raw materials, methods, and the tools involved in the mining, production, shipping and packaging of cement.

  • Mechanical -- Knowledge of equipment used, machines and tools, including their uses, repair of, and maintenance.

  • Engineering and Technology -- Knowledge of the practical application of the technology used and manufacturing of cement. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of cement.

  • Environmental – Knowledge of proper allocation of waste material.

 

Equipment and Tools:


  • Shovels.

  • Assists with Vactor Vacuum hoses, jackhammer, air lances.

  • Small hand tools as required.

  • Cardox hardware (certification required).

  • Woma Gun

 

 

Safety and Working Conditions:

 

SAFETY:


  • Follow all safety requirements.

  • Complete daily work place examinations

  • Address and/or report safety hazards found in work areas 

 

CONDITIONS:


  • Frequently walk and climb

  • Be able to walk comfortably < mile a day

  • Light to medium level work; exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds of force regularly, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects

  • Frequently will be required to push/pull and climb ladders

  • Frequently will be required to travel  catwalks at varying distances less than 200 feet occasionally, up to 800 feet frequently and 2,500 feet occasionally

  • Frequently will be required to climb stair cases up to 170 feet in elevation

  • Frequently required to reach above shoulders to climb ladders and occasionally standing

  • Constantly required to hear sounds and have clarity of near, far and peripheral sight with depth perception

  • Requires use of feet for repetitive movements such as driving, walking, climbing stairway and ladders

  • Regularly requires use of both hands for grasping and fine manipulations for repetitive motions

  • Work near moving mechanical parts

  • Work in heights

  • Outdoor weather conditions

  • Vibration

  • Noise level in the work environment is regularly loud
