We are looking for a Transportation Coordinator to join Kaiser Aluminum Warrick Operations in Newburgh, Indiana!

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for working with multiple areas of the plant (internal and external customers) to schedule and coordinate a variety of shipments for inbound and outbound metal units in a fast-paced environment safely and efficiently. The incumbent will be a process leader, providing in-depth understanding and application of safe, compliant operational practices and demonstrate adherence with company policy, work processes, programs, and standards.

What you will work on:

• Monitor Truck and Rail inbound and outbound shipments for Warrick Operations

• Work with shipping dock to resolve daily tactical issues related to Transportation carriers


• Carrier ETA for shipments


• Hot List communications for Planning and Transportation


• Schedule and secure freight daily at lowest cost for inbound and outbound materials that affect multiple areas across Warrick Operations while negotiating rates trying to stay within contracted parameters in covering loads for inbound and outbound packaging loads


• Set Up of users for tools (Freight Pay, Best, QTS, etc.)


• Set carriers up in Best and support for urgent and special handling situations. 


• Provide vacation and absenteeism relief for the Warrick Transportation Coordinators


• Support the Warrick Logistics Manager with continuous improvement of all shipping routes


• Deploy and maintain proper help chains, including Customer Supply Guidelines with the Commercial group as well as Pack/Ship. 


• Utilize reporting tools in transportation systems to monitor effectiveness of carrier capacity strategy, problem solve issues and identify opportunities for improvements.

About you:

• Bachelor's degree is preferred.

• Minimum of three years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.


• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
