About the job

Alcoa Warrick is searching for a Maintenance Technical Assistant (TA) to be responsible for supporting technical equipment maintenance in the Smelting Department Aluminum plant! This role is accountable for failure elimination, restoring flow, outage execution and crew leading as part of a weekend rotation. This position is primarily a day shift to resolve day to day issues with assigned production centers, but is required to work other shifts and weekends if needed.

Key Activities:

• Lead level 1 and level 2 failure analysis activities.




• Support reliability excellence activities in Smelting Department, while scheduling work to be executed during outages and lead the crew during outages.




• Resolve electrical, controls and mechanical equipment and process issues.




• Provide direction and training to maintenance craft, supervisors and/or contractors for scheduled and unscheduled work.




• Develop, plan, schedule, and implement improvement projects related to equipment reliability.




• Assist planner to develop and modify maintenance job packages.




• Coordinate outside resources such as engineers, service technicians, suppliers, designers, and contractors.




• Participate and execute other duties and projects as assigned.

About you:

• High School Diploma or GED




• 2+ years of preventative maintenance experience.




• Proven experience working with craft and salaried personnel.




• Background of reading, interpreting drawings, codes, standards, and specifications.




• Excellent communication and problem solving skills




• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products




• Ability to work on their shifts and/or come in early or stay late as needed




• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred qualifications:

• Associate Degree in Mechanical Technology




• Five years solving mechanical issues with equipment and processes and experience using Oracle CMMS platform




• Minimum 1 year technical or maintenance experience working in heavy industrial.




• Trained and Experienced in Formal Root Cause Failure Analysis




• Maintenance supervisory experience, knowledge of preventive maintenance and of industrial plant equipment and tool capabilities
