Operations Specialist at PAC Worldwide

Job Description:

PAC Contract Services is a full-service contract packager and supplier. We partner with businesses large and small offering a wide range of packaging solutions and capabilities.


Summary:


The Operations Specialist is responsible for assisting with the coordinating, planning, and purchasing of materials used in the manufacturing operations in a cost effective manner. The position will require daily interaction with vendors and internal customers to ensure daily availability of materials scheduled for production as well as long term planning.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Run, review and maintain Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) reports.

  • Responsible for ordering raw materials based on work orders and safety stock levels to ensure appropriate inventory levels

  • Responsible for issuing purchase orders for raw materials and services.

  • Communicate status of raw materials to Planning Team.

  • Prioritize and communicate workload priorities with outside vendors.

  • Responsible for assisting with material bids, vendor communication and maintaining bid information.

  • Support continuous improvement efforts.

  • Responsible for off-site inventory with vendors.

  • Support efforts to achieve competitive pricing on all materials.

  • Support efforts to develop and maintain competitive sourcing in regards to price and service.

  • Responsible for various report management and distribution.

  • Assume Senior Planners responsibilities as required

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


General:



  • Must have excellent communication, planning, negotiation and organizational skills and the ability to independently manage a heavy workload

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, have strong mathematical calculation capability.

  • Must have the ability to adapt to rapid change and work in a fast paced environment

  • Basic knowledge shipping/receiving processes, production schedules, and inventory control.

  • Must have experience to identify and evaluate costs and trends.

  • Must have the ability to support and maintain competitive sourcing in regards to price and service

  • Have the ability to input and coordinate information from various parties, and prepares and presents such information for management review

  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as persistence in seeking out required information, are required

  • Must be team oriented and have the ability to shift paradigms.




Education and/or Experience:



  • Must have 2-5 years of materials planning/purchasing experience

  • High School education required



Language Skills:



  • Must be capable of speaking, reading, and writing English with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.



Mathematical Skills:



  • Must be capable of performing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division calculations.

  • Must be capable of formatting calculations with the use of Excel.

  • Must possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills.



Reasoning Ability:



  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to use these skills in support of the material planning function.



Computer Skills:



  • Must be computer literate and efficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs required.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred.

  • Requires standing and walking in a warehouse environment. Must be capable of operating standard office equipment such as a computer, copier, mail machine, printer, fax, stapler, and other various pieces of office equipment. Must be capable of lifting 10 lbs on an infrequent basis.
