Recreational Marine Sales Manager

Chubb Personal Risk Services is seeking a Recreational Marine Sales Manager (RMSM) for our Pacific Region.  This position is an external facing role requiring daily, independent travel to assigned Recreational Marine Specialty and High-Net-Worth Personal Lines Property & Casualty independent agents and brokers.  The territory will include California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho and Montana, with a preference for the candidate to live in Southern California area in proximity to our San Diego or Newport Beach branch offices. 

The RMSM will be responsible for new client acquisition, renewal client management and agency relationship management.   The RMSM will report directly to Vice President, Recreational Marine Sales. 

 

 Key Responsibilities: 


  • Develop agency business plans with assigned independent agents designed to grow new clients and retain existing clients.

  • Identify new clients with annual premium up to $250,000+ through effective pipeline development, account pre-qualification and territory analysis/management.

  • Collaborate with the regional PRS Sales and Distribution team to identify and target profitable new business opportunities from high-net-worth personal lines agents and brokers.

  • Responsible for new client acquisition including pipeline development, pipeline management, quote optimization, quote follow up ultimately leading to closing deals.

  • Analyze new business trends including quote volume, quality and hit ratio.

  • Renewal retention management by demonstrating the ability to position rate and exposure changes with value-based selling techniques.

  • Provide support to assigned agencies related to;

    • Agency training to understand Chubb’s products, services and competitive advantages.

    • Product and service enhancements and rate changes.



  • Follow disciplined sales process to ensure consistent execution of best practices, including agency assessments, sales plans and call documentation.

  • Identify new agency appointment opportunities.

  • Travel within assigned territory and supported by office time as needed for making appointments, call planning, call reporting, agent follow-up, report generation, presentation preparation, etc.

  • Book management including analysis of new business and retention results to identify agency specific and territory trends.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with assigned agents and brokers to meet or exceed financial objective for assigned territory.

  • Participate in internal meetings and report on results as appropriate.

  • Work with agents and underwriting on new quotes and retention.

  • Collaborate and interact with Sales, Underwriting, Risk Consulting, Product, Claims and Branch Administration.

  • Intrinsic curiosity paired with effective questioning and active listening skills.

  • Strong organizational, negotiation & value-based selling skills.

  • An existing Recreational Marine/private boat and yacht insurance technical knowledge, including policy forms, marketplace and competition is a strong advantage

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including effective relationship building and highly effective negotiation and virtual presentation skills.

  • Proficiency with personal lines systems including quote/rate/issue applications, Microsoft Office, Salesforce.com a plus.

 

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of recreational marine sales, marketing, underwriting, claims, or agency experience

  • Experience selling marine product lines preferred but not required
