Job Description:

Are you a Safety Professional looking for a place to grow, develop, and be exposed to all aspects of safety? Then the Safety Supervisor at the Doe Run Company could be a great opportunity for you!

The Doe Run Company is seeking a Safety Supervisor to assist the EHS Manager by supervising health and safety team members and providing safety leadership in the work area to ensure compliance with company policies and federal and state rules and regulations. This position is located in Viburnum, MO.

Responsibilities:


  • Assist in development and implementation of safety & health processes for Doe Run operations.

  • Assist in the development and facilitation of safety and health training and policies.

  • Oversee routine and follow-up safety inspections of work areas for regulatory non-compliance and safety hazards and ensure the documentation of any identified issues (including management of corrective actions).

  • Investigate safety and health incidents and follow up on corrective actions.  

  • Read, interpret, and remain current on governmental regulations pertaining to safety compliance.

  • Report on safety and health measures and metrics to internal and external stakeholders.

  • For health and safety team members, supervise, coach, and follow up for work completion.

  • Respond to emergency situations and assist in facilitating recovery and rescue efforts.

Education & Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management or related field or equivalent work experience.

  • At least 1-year of supervisory experience.

  • At least 5-years of experience working in safety management, preferably in an industrial facility.

  • Valid, current driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Extensive knowledge of MSHA and/or OSHA safety and health regulations.

  • First aid and emergency action experience.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • MSHA or OSHA Training Certifications (Preferred)

  • Working knowledge of hazard identification and risk assessment

  • Must be team oriented, an effective communicator (verbal and written), able to offer technical expertise and guidance, building rapport with department team members and external departments.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements


  • Regularly required to work in outdoor weather and underground mining conditions, wear PPE including but not limited to respirator, eye protection, hearing protection, and foot protection. Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally required to work in confined spaces, wet, humid conditions (non-weather), vibration, and working at heights with fall protection. Occasionally exposed to loud noise.

  • Regularly required to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time, talk, and hear; occasionally required to stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl, and climb or balance.  Requires clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.  Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
