Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Clinical Software Product Management is responsible for leading the team defining software solution strategy, roadmap development / realization, and business cases for new product introduction launch & integration to enable oncology testing, genetic disease testing, reproductive health and infectious disease testing.  This role reports to the Vice President, Software Marketing and is a critical leader to align the full IVD & clinical software solutions across Illumina’s 4 key clinical segments and other high value end to end solutions.

This role collaborates closely with the Clinical & IVD Solutions Product Management team, Global Segment Marketing and Software Product Marketing to ensure alignment with the outbound marketing strategies. The individual in this role is responsible for reporting the performance of the business and progress of ongoing development projects to senior leadership. The individual will directly manage a team of product managers focused on on-market and development products spanning DRAGEN, TruSight Software Suite and clinical segment aligned PMs across Illumina’s 4 clinical verticals. The role will be working cross functionally with different stakeholders internally to ensure that strategies are aligned across groups and executed in-step with other programs.

Responsibilities:


  • Develops strategic plan for product roadmap for clinical and IVD software and informatics solutions.

  • Define and own product positioning for portfolio of products in collaboration with the team and functions across the organization.

  • Collaborate with product marketing, segment and regional marketing for global coordination of marketing activities and alignment to strategy.

  • Manage and lead a group of product managers, both on-market product and developing products, in all aspects of on market support for products.

  • Responsible for establishing forecast for sales and manufacturing.

  • Responsible for driving growth in genomics software market and tracking relevant business metrics.

  • Contribute to the long-term product and market strategy for software solutions

  • Liaise with the commercial organization and support them in interactions with existing and new customers in the field.

Experience/Education:


  • Scientific Master’s degree required; PhD preferred. MBA not necessary but preferred

  • Must have at least 10 years of clinical and software product marketing experience with people management experience.

  • Experience with NGS markets and/or diagnostics product lines is strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, synthesize and prioritize customer needs to inform and develop a competitive software strategy.

  • Must have demonstrated effective collaboration in matrixed or highly cross-functional business settings

  • Must have demonstrated track record of delivering effective and strategic marketing plans for products on market

  • Must possess exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) including the demonstrated ability to influence senior management about key decisions associated with portfolio, product and pricing decisions.

  • Must have demonstrated track record of successfully building and leading teams while inside of a large, complex global organization; passion for recruiting, developing and retaining talent.
