NP/PA - Interventional Radiology - 100% FTE, Day - University Hospital and Meriter Hospital at University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation

Job Description:

As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will play an integral role in our inpatient and ambulatory care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients.

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant:


  • Practice in a dynamic and challenging subspecialty working in close collaboration with interventional radiologists, nurses, technologists and other advanced practice providers to provide services at:


    • University Hospital: a 592-bed academic medical center with 85 outpatient clinics in Madison with Level I trauma center designation and associated ambulatory clinics.

    • UnityPoint Health-Meriter, a nonprofit, 448-bed community hospital, providing a complete range of medical and surgical services and associated outpatient clinics.



  • Care for patients with acute and chronic illness such as vascular disorders, hepatobiliary disease, acute bleeding, cancer, end-stage renal failure, renal outflow disorders and need for central venous access.

  • Perform minor procedures inclusive of paracenteses, central line removals, drain manipulation/removals, G-tube exchanges and other minor procedures as deemed necessary to optimize patient care.

  • Perform triage, new patient consultation and daily rounding as an integral member of our expanding inpatient interventional radiology consult service at both practice sites.

Education:

Minimum:

If Nurse Practitioner: Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program.

If Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program.

Work Experience:

Preferred – Two (2) years working as an NP or PA in an acute care or specialty care setting.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum – State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure

If Nurse Practitioner*:


  • Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND

  • Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice. These may include the following: Adult; Adult/Gerontology Acute Care; Adult/Gerontology Primary Care; Family.

If Physician Assistant*:


  • Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND

  • Active PA board certification

All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have*: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire.

*Active license or eligibility to obtain active licensure in state of practice. This may include licensing in Wisconsin and other state(s) of practice.

Physical Requirements:

Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

Work Schedule:

100% FTE, 5 days/week: Monday – Friday, with 1 in 5 weekend rotation and occasional holiday coverage. Typical core weekday hours are 7:30 am – 4:30 pm. No call requirements. Work assignment will be primarily at UW Hospital and Clinics (90-95%) with limited coverage at UnityPoint-Meriter.
