Accounts Payable Project Manager at Moderna Therapeutics

The Role:

The Accounts Payable Project Manager role, reporting to the Associate Director, Accounts Payable, is an exciting opportunity at Moderna. Be a critical part of a high-growth organization that is radically changing the biotech industry. As Moderna continues to grow, we need an experienced Project Manager in our Accounts Payable department to join our Finance team to perform Accounts Payable project leadership. The role is expected to be a key position in the creation and implementation of strategic and/or tactical activities to address Accounts Payable challenges and objectives. Responsible for executing on tasks assigned for managing large and small projects within the constraints of scope, quality, time, and cost, to deliver specified requirements. This opportunity will include a key role in driving changes to the Accounts Payable systems as our growth and global presence expands in other countries.

Here's What You'll Do:


  • Lead P2P team meetings to Plan and Design our invoicing platform using VIM and Open Text for our global environment


  • Provide guidance on best practices in Accounts Payable processes, including but not limited to Invoice Processing, Approval Workflow, Down Payments, Payments and Remittance Processing


  • Lead end to end testing development for all AP projects


  • Develop project cut over plan including timelines and reconciliation plan


  • Ensure SOX controls are being considered for all system process changes and recommend control language changes for process changes that are not in alignment with the current controls


  • Align with GL Team all questions on invoice posting changes which could impact month end close or accruals


  • Recommend continued process improvements based on automation of current manual processes


  • Prepare/review standardized work instructions for new system processes for both the AP team and the business partners


  • Create or update Global Standard Operating Procedures for the Accounts Payable teams.


  • Other analysis as needed


Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:


  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting


  • 7+ years' experience working in Accounts Payable


  • Ability to manage multiple ERP projects in a fast-paced environment


  • Solid SAP AP experience


  • Outstanding communications skills (verbal and written) and ability to interact across all levels of an organization


  • Excellent judgment and ability to communicate issues for both technical and business policies in an understandable way


  • Understanding of the Sunshine act and Compliance report requirements as it relates to invoice processing


  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment
