ENGIE North America Inc.

The Construction Manager will be a part of the Capital Projects team responsible for the construction phase of multiple utility system projects on Ohio State's Columbus campus and will report to a Program Manager at ENGIE Buckeye Operations. This position is responsible for working in a self-managed team concept and a successful candidate is responsible for the planning and safe, on-time, and on or under budget execution of construction on multiple expansion and lifecycle projects within the cost, schedule, and quality constraints defined by the Program Manager and/or relevant contracts.

What you'll do:


  • Provide guidance and leadership during the construction

  • Become the main point of contact for construction related tasks, issues and progress

  • Be responsible to the construction of the new Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP) and the District heating and Cooling (DHC) project currently under construction through 2022

  • Manage the construction of multiple life cycle and expansion projects at a time

  • Provide logistics and constructability review, comments, and resolution during design and construction phases of each project

  • Coordinate Outage Requests with ENGIE Operations and the University

  • Oversee and perform QA/QC supervision on the inspections (e.g., weld, concrete, backfill compaction) performed in the field

  • Coordinate with the necessary ENGIE and University stakeholders to facilitate project execution (e.g., Communications, Department of Public Safety, Transportation & Traffic Management, Emergency Management, Medical Center, etc.)

  • Lead the punchlist process and assist Project Manager with ENGIE and University Closeout responsibilities

  • Provide field input to assist with tracking and reporting of schedule and budget performance during construction

  • Ensure contractors are performing construction management according to Engie standards and contractual requirements

  • Support cost estimation, scheduling, and logistics/safety review for projects in development/design

  • Carry out other duties as assigned


Qualifications

What you bring:


  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or in related field, or bachelor's degree equivalency with practical experience and knowledge of relevant technical systems.

  • A minimum of three years of experience in related field

  • Knowledge of natural gas, steam, hot water, chilled water, and electric utilities is an asset

  • Hard work ethic, self-starter, can-do attitude

  • Knowledge of modern management tools in continuous improvement is an asset

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications

  • Experienced with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 is a plus

  • Project Management Professional and Certified Construction Manager (CCM) license is preferred

  • For this position, you must have evidence of right to work in the U.S.; there is no employer sponsorship of U.S. residency or work authorization with this role

  • Work environment characteristics include the access of construction sites, under variable outdoor conditions

  • Visits to work sites include mandatory personal protective equipment as required

  • Areas of construction sites could include access to confined spaces, varying levels of temperature and physical requirements such as crawling, climbing and/or lifting to 30 pounds

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
