Are you a new college graduate or about to graduate soon? Are you interested in being an integral part of the Kesselring Site's ability to meet the mission in support of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program?

The Site Mechanical Engineering organization is seeking an entry-level engineerto fulfill the role of Facilities System Engineer (Mechanical) at the Kesselring Site. In this position, the individual will further develop their engineering knowledge and skills through the analysis, design, in-field troubleshooting, and repair of the Site's critical infrastructure systems. This position offers the candidate the opportunity to apply their engineering degree, building their technical and non-technical skills through support of both the day-to-day operational site system needs and long-term system improvement initiatives including design, development, project planning, and oversight of project execution.

The individual's areas of cognizance will include facility and infrastructure support systems such as site service water, demineralized water, compressed air/gas, steam and condensate systems, plant discharge/emissions systems and water treatment systems. The individual will provide in-field support to system owners and operators, coordinate any required maintenance repairs to ensure continuity of system operations, and achieve customer satisfaction by providing responsive, prompt, and effective support. The individual will perform engineering analysis and system conditional assessments to improve system operation, reduce operational risk, and improve system reliability. In this position the individual will develop both technical and non-technical skills through interface and collaboration with multiple groups/individuals including system operators, other engineering organizations, compliance organizations, customers, procurement personnel, architectural-engineering firms, crafts and trades personnel, and subcontractors. They will routinely utilize and develop skills in problem analysis, process hazard analysis, technical writing, and cost estimating. Additionally, the individual will take active roles in process improvement initiatives within the organization to improve efficiency and performance.







Required Skills




  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university







Preferred Skills



Driven and self-motivated, with the ability to work in a fact-paced environment while simultaneously meeting stringent design, control, and operational standards

College, project, or intern experience in reviewing, interpreting, and documenting technical comments on project construction drawings

College, project, or intern experience in engineering design, troubleshooting, and/or repair

College, project, or intern experience, knowledge, or understanding of regulatory requirements (examples: NYSDOH, NYSDEC, NFPA, etc.) and their applicability to facility and infrastructure systems

College, project, or intern experience or familiarity with electrical controls and/or programmable logic controllers (PLC)

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written
