The Design Quality Engineering team is based in Naples, FL and provides expertise in risk management, product quality, process control, verification & validation (V&V), and continuous improvement. Design Quality Engineers incorporate quality methods and tools, including applied statistics and external standards, to design experiments, develop test protocols, conduct investigations, and improve products and processes. The individual chosen for this position will assist in these activities as a part of New Product Introduction, Sustaining Activities, and Non-conformance Investigations. Preferably, the ideal candidate will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related field.

This internship will run from January 2022 – April 2022. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 30-40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

Main Objective:

To provide intern exposure to various design quality engineering aspects. Assist in various Quality assurance related activities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Design to Manufacturing Transfer: Working through the process of translating design requirements into process specifications.




  • Risk management: Using the risk management (ISO14971) for new products as a part of the design and development process.




  • Complaint analysis: Pulling field complaints and assessing root causes. Analyzing the data as a part of New Product Development. 




  • Data gathering and analysis: Identifying metrics for the Design Quality Team and analyzing trends and opportunities for improvement.




  • Document reviews (Engineering change orders, Design history files, Device history records, etc.)         




  • Training presentation slides: Develop trainings for other departments based on industry standards and company best practices.



Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree in Engineering required. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:


  • Basic to intermediate computer skills.

  • Be able to follow written and verbal direction.


  • Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the assigned tasks.



 

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
