With Unifi's' continued growth, the IT department needs a Network Engineer to develop, design, implement and assist in managing our national network infrastructure. Our network needs are growing with the Corp and Remote Sites environment. We are looking for a Network Engineer who can implement the network infrastructure while collaborating with other teams to ensure the infrastructure supports the organization's growing needs. We want a secure, reliable network with effective documentation internally and externally and someone that can provide prompt support when necessary. This role may require travel to new and existing remote locations to survey and/or install network infrastructure equipment.
Role/Responsibilities
Network Design:
Continue to develop a nationwide network based on the growing needs of the organization, which includes the design and implementation of new network solutions
Enforce network security as a priority through design and implementation
Provide fault-tolerant and 99.9% availability of the network for users across our Corp and Remote Sites; and improve the efficiency of current networks; such as configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
Procuring network equipment and managing contractors involved with network installation
Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting, which includes investigating network faults; and also provides scheduling network upgrades
Corp and Remote Sites Connectivity:
Manage Corp and Remote Sites access for the organization via Client VPN access or Web access.
Set up and configure Corp and Remote Sites access for specific staff
New Remote Construction:
Responsible for installing all Meraki equipment (firewall, switches, and AP's) at new and existing remote locations
Ensure network infrastructure at new remote locations are implemented according to the organization's architecture requirements
Work with vendors to ensure effective implementation and thorough documentation
Network Management:
Work with the on-site point of contact to ensure the network can support staff:
Ensure network connectivity and segmentation
Ensure wireless connectivity
Support on-site events to ensure drops are live when necessary
Point of contact for network-related vendors like low voltage cabling
Technical Experience & Requirements
This is a fast-paced role that requires one to juggle multiple priorities and requests. As a result, one must be able to change and adapt quickly to changing/shifting priorities.
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field of study with a network engineering focus
3+ years of progressive IT networking experience
CCNA certified
Expert knowledge of firewalls technologies including use of VPNs
Technical Knowledge of Protocols, Internet standards, including routers, switches (OSI Model) DNS, BGP, OSPF and Vlan
Deep understanding of network security systems, intrusion detection systems and protocols including ISE, ACE, ACS, VPN, GRE, IPSEC, IKE, TACACS, RADIUS, ACLs, 802.1x
Extensive background in planning and crafting projects and analyzing existing network systems and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness
Experience with multi-tier architectures, including standard methodologies around tier isolation
Strong analytical skills for interpreting business requirements and translating them into technical specifications
Superb communication skills, including the ability to write network and security documentation, policies, and guidelines
Cloud networking knowledge (Private, Public, Hybrid), experience working in Azure Cloud and other SAAS products and their networks as required.
Deep understanding of industry trends and developing strategies
Experience with VoIP voice solutions
MUST be able to travel to different states. This will be 10 - 15%, if needed.
Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
Strong oral and written skills who can excel at technical writing and documentation
Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions and quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies
Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewalls, routers, and switches.
Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and implementation. This would include L1, L2 and L3 topology Designs
Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection
Ability to work with and communicate to all levels of staff throughout the organization
A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
