SUMMARY

Receives and schedules customer orders while providing quality customer service. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works from general supervision with specified standard policies and practices.  Refers to supervisor when in serious doubt as to the proper procedure for a specified action.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receives customer orders promptly and with a pleasant and accommodating tone of voice and enters order information into dispatch computer system.  Revises and updates orders as needed.

• Responds to customer inquiries and complaints concerning the status of orders and related issues as appropriate. Keeps management informed of specific customer problems and concerns.

• Observes the flow of business on dispatch monitors and notifies customers when requested delivery times cannot be met.  Reschedules deliveries or specifies the time of delay as appropriate.

• Contacts customers regarding details for specific orders and to provide ‘value-added’ and stimulate new orders, particularly from regular customers who have not placed orders recently.

• Communicates written and verbal directions to drivers.

• Collaborates with sales, quality control and operations personnel regarding general business conditions and specific customer orders.

• Generates and reviews daily yardage reports and informs management of problems or potential problem areas.

• May interact with ready-mix drivers as necessary.

• Performs other job-related responsibilities as needed.

• Reliable and dependable attendance.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

General knowledge of concrete and related industry practices.  Excellent phone and communication skills. Skill in performing basic math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in order to assist customers in calculating the amount of concrete needed.  Attention to details, coordination, organization and decision-making skills needed.  Ability to accurately and effectively use current computer operating systems and office suite.  Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment, and to react resourcefully under varying conditions.  Demonstrate positive teamwork ethic and work well with other departments. Ability to work during evenings and on weekends as assigned.

Education

High school graduation or equivalent preferred.

Experience

Five years or more experience in customer service preferred.

One to three years ready mix experience required.

Knowledge of Command software and tracking systems preferred.
