Overview

POSITION PURPOSE
The primary objective for this position is administer and maintain company benefits programs.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
* Initial contact for benefit issues providing support and responding to questions from employees, managers, retirees and HR Business Partners that requires specialized knowledge of benefits and company plans and programs.
* Functions as a liaison between vendors and employees.
* Ensure accurate benefit administration and compliance of benefit plans, escalating complex issues to Director of Benefits & Compensation as needed.
* Monitor and approve benefit enrollment and life events in HRIS and manage deductions.
* Maintains Employee & Retiree Benefit Files
* Partner directly with Management and onsite HR Coordinators to assist with benefit administration of all benefit plans including Health & Welfare, Life & Disability, 401(k), Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Savings Accounts and COBRA.
* Participate in or lead benefit employee meetings and orientations.
* Assist with creating and distributing benefits communications throughout the year ensuring employees have access to latest benefit information.
* Ensure benefit materials are current and accessible to employees on company sites.
* Assist Director of Benefits & Compensation with annual renewal and Open Enrollment process.
* Reconcile and process payment of monthly carrier billing for benefit plans timely and accurately.
* Assist Director of Benefits & Compensation with benefit plan audits and integrations.
* Monitor and audit benefits systems and electronic data files to vendors.
* Serve as a back-up for other benefit and HR administration duties.
* Assist with administration of company leave of absence program.
* Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources (or other related area) preferred, but not required.
* 2-5 Years of Benefits Experience.
* Multi-state experience preferred but not required.
* Experience with Unions preferred but not required.
* Knowledge of leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA and other applicable laws.
* Organization skills and attention to detail required.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills a must.
* Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to communicate/present to large groups of employees.
* Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
* Able to work independently.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees at all levels.
* Proficiency in use of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
* Experience with HRIS and Payroll Systems (ie - ADP, Ceridian, ExponentHR, etc) is desired.
* Possess high level of maturity, professionalism and treatment of confidential matters.
* Must be open to occasional overtime as needed or required.
