Provides direct patient care services such as assisting patients during activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, ambulating, and eliminating. Obtains and documents vital signs and specimens as required. Transports patients to diagnostic procedures and other hospital locations.

The Patient Care Associate is a member of a team dedicated to provide the highest quality care and services to our patients by assisting in such functions as maintaining a safe, clean and functional environment; assisting with dietary aspects of care; facilitating communication, i.e., answering phones; transporting patients and assisting visitors. As an integral part of the team, thePatient Care Associate is responsible for activities, which promote patient focused care within the Patient Units, Multispecialty Practice Suite, and/or other specialty post as needed. Skills sufficient to assure compliance with institutional and regulatory agencies in the areas of infection control, safety, fire safety and life safety. Ability to use proper judgment in difficult situations and escalate to proper care giver and/or unit leader if necessary within realistic time frames.

High School Graduate or equivalent with vocational/technical training preferred.

Effective English communication skills, both written and oral.

Graduate of State Certified Program or 1 year clinical experience as a nursing student/foreign graduate nurse.

Basic Life Support (BLS) training required.

Certification in Phlebotomy and EKG monitoring required.
