Sr. Director, Business Development (Military)

If you're passionate about a great wireless connection, like we are at Boingo, then this is your chance to help our men & women in the military stay connected to the people and things they love! Boingo is looking for a highly energetic and customer-focused person with extensive experience in establishing high-level business relationships within the U.S. Government, specifically the U.S. Military.

Boingo is the leading indoor wireless solution provider focused on providing lightning-fast connectivity at some of the largest and most complicated venues in the world. The Sr. Director's primary objective will be to grow our new Private Networks and Bulk Revenue business across our networks covering 75 military bases in the U.S. and internationally. Revenue growth will be driven by working jointly with Boingo's Operations team, Account Management and our Private 5G/CBRS/Wifi team to deliver new services to the Military on those bases.

The indoor wireless business has experienced significant growth as more and more mobile data is consumed inside military bases, airports, stadiums, arenas, office buildings, and hospitals. Boingo is experiencing strong demand for our services, but the market is dynamic and incredibly competitive; adaptability, agility, and speed to market are essential.

To be successful in this role, the Sr. Director, Business Development must: (i) in the first 60 days analyze Boingo's Military business and develop a strategy to grow revenue; (ii) working closely with cross-functional teams (Legal, Product, Engineering, Operations, Business Development), validate and implement recommendations with a focus on revenue growth; and (iii) network and expand existing relationships within Boingo's Military customers (Army, Air Force, Marines). In addition, the Sr. Director, Business Development will work with our Carrier Sales teams and Private Networks team to represent Boingo with our Military customers. A key focus item will be expanding Boingo's presence with the DoD up and down the chain of command. This is a remote position.

Expectations

  • Deliver results with a "hands on" approach focused on strong execution and cross functional leadership.

  • Identify, contact and qualify additional opportunities through research, calling, email, and face to face meetings. Willingness to travel is a must.

  • Working alongside cross-functional teams including Sales, Product Development, Network Operations, Engineering and Legal to derive the business model for maximum revenue generation across 75 military bases

  • Deliver new business opportunities using our existing infrastructure and presence on our military bases in the U.S. and internationally through contacts at the DoD, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, both at the local command level and at the Pentagon

Requirements

  • Experience working with the Government and/or US Military; Military service strongly preferred

  • 7+ years of business development and/or consulting experience preferably in the technology or telecom industries, with proven record in signing large deals

  • Proven track record of closing large deals (>$1M) and regularly meeting or exceeding quota

  • Ability to negotiate and execute contracts by leveraging cross-functional resources

  • Proficient working knowledge of the telecommunications industry & landscape

  • Capacity to adapt to Boingo's fast-paced and dynamic culture

  • Proven track record of communications and people skills

  • Possess excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and self-management driven by results

  • Ability to think quickly and analytically (critical thinker)

  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time a must
