Fluid Power Sales and Engineering Specialist 1 at Applied Industrial Technologies

Job Description:

Additionally, Applied Industrial Technologies and the Applied Fluid Power network of companies has one of the largest teams of Certified Fluid Power Specialists, Certified Electronic Control Specialists and Certified Fluid Power Mechanics to assist with problem solving, system building, troubleshooting, and other custom requirements.

A Fluid Power Product Manager at Applied Industrial Technologies uses their strong Product Management skills, their deep knowledge of hydraulic/pneumatic fluid power solutions and excellent relationship management skills to define and manage a portfolio of offerings to facilitate growth. Reporting to the Director of Fluid Power MRO, the Fluid Power Product Manager grows business by partnering with suppliers, the Fluid Power MRO team, the Applied US Service Center organization, the Applied Fluid Power network of companies and internal resources spending their time developing growth strategies, creating & execute marketing programs and managing day-to-day portfolio activities. This critical role has a direct impact on our customer's and Applied Industrial Technologies' business results.

Core Responsibilities:


  • Utilize knowledge of fluid power products & services and served markets to actively contribute to Fluid Power MRO's strategy to facilitate profitable share gain

  • Work with supplier partners, the Applied Fluid Power network of companies and internal resources to develop, launch and track/monitor marketing programs and promotions and optimize Distribution Center inventory levels

  • Develop, manage and enhance relationships with the network of supplier partners. This includes negotiating overarching and product/service supply agreements.

  • Manage the cradle to grave lifecycle of the fluid power MRO offering portfolio

  • Create and manage an internal communications plan for the US Service Center network, Fluid Power MRO team and the Applied Fluid Power network of companies (as appropriate) that includes but is not limited to available products, programs, promotions and learning development opportunities

  • Lead by example; create a positive, dynamic, and fun work environment that delivers results

  • Assist development of the fluid power collaborative knowledge base including applications, interchanges, case histories, Documented Value Added activities, market activities and competitor activities

Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing or related fields

  • 7 years of fluid power industry experience (hydraulic and/or pneumatic)

  • 2 years of Product Management experience

  • Demonstrable continuous improvement skills

  • Familiar with MS Office including remote collaboration tools (eg. video conferencing)

  • Strong written & verbal communication & English grammar skills

  • Proven problem solving skills, ability to multi-task and time management skills with a bias for action

Preferred:


  • International Fluid Power Society (IFPS) Certification

  • 2 years working in Industrial Distribution or for a manufacturer who utilizes Industrial Distribution

  • 2 years of contract negotiation experience
