Haskell is hiring a Senior Designer - Structural for our growing team!


The Senior Designer - Structural performs design, detailing, and analysis under the supervision of licensed professional


Job Responsibilities



  • Application of Knowledge of Building Systems:

    • Effectively applies discipline design and detailing fundamentals in developing designs under the supervision of, and subject to, final approval by the Licensed Professional.

    • Participates in the development of group and corporate standards committees.






  • Design

    • Produces well-organized construction documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness, adhering to team and discipline standards.

    • When assigned design-related activities, prepares presentation drawings, and other deliverables as required by the Licensed Professional.

    • Maintains orderly work file, prepares clear well-written memos/correspondence.

    • Participates in design reviews with the design team at 30% and 100% on all assigned projects.

    • Assists with drawing planning, production, management, and adherence to schedule.

    • Performs analysis or calculations as required.

    • Coordinates work with other disciplines related to dimensions and interferences to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions.

    • Assists the Licensed Professional with production of specifications.






  • Construction Support

    • Responds to all RFI's and reviews submittals for compliance in a timely manner.

    • Responds promptly when dealing with field requests/issues.

    • Performs site visits and prepares observation/follow-up phase reports documenting progress and deficiencies.

    • Prepares field orders; addenda and record drawings.






  • Project Management

    • Attends project meetings as requested.

    • Adheres to established company standards and policies.

    • Makes presentations to internal and external customers.






  • Planning, Scheduling, and Profitability

    • Works independently on a variety of projects - from simple to complex, small to large.

    • Provides required information in a timely manner, keeping his/her supervisor apprised as to the progress of the work.

    • Produces well-organized construction documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness, adhering to team and discipline standards.

    • Monitors projects for scope creep and report changes to the Structural Engineer of Record.






  • Professional Development

    • Attends seminars and conferences as necessary to maintain professional competency.

    • Provides training to staff from base knowledge and seminars/conferences attended.

    • Keeps apprised of new technologies and assists in their incorporation into the A/E practice.






  • Leadership

    • Mentors Technicians/Senior Technicians.

    • Mentors Designers.





Education/Experience



  • High school degree (technical/associate's degree preferred) with experience in applicable design work.



Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications Etc.



  • Building System Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of various building/construction types/complexities.

    • Understanding of structural design process from concepts through construction.

    • Ability to quickly develop structural

    • Understanding of standard details/specs.

    • Ability to perform thorough interdisciplinary

    • Good written and verbal communication



  • Computer Skills


    • Ability to access project information remotely when working outside the office using VPN and/or

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and

    • Ability to utilize Newforma Programs: Newforma Project Center, Newforma Cloud, Project Teams, Capture, Tasks, and

    • AutoCAD and Revit or other 3D modeling software




    • Highly proficient in Autodesk Revit.

      • Highly proficient at modeling structural elements and drafting of 2D structural sections and details using Revit.





  • Highly proactive in developing plans, sections, and details with very little direction from engineers in a fast-paced environment.

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements


While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (life, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
