Job Description Summary
The Senior Commercial Real Estate Loan Underwriter is responsible for underwriting complex multifamily and commercial real estate loans, in the $2MM to $20MM range with minimal supervision. The underwriter's goal is to ensure the quality, completeness, and accuracy of analysis that precedes credit and business decisions.

Responsibilities:
Analyzes and evaluates various permanent commercial real estate loan opportunities on multifamily, office, retail, industrial, self-storage and mobile home park properties.
Reviews property historical operating statements, Borrower provided and publicly available information for comparison to historical property expenses and current property details/condition to develop historical and pro forma cash flow statements.
Reviews appraisals for conformity with initial loan sizing, underwriting and consistency.
Reviews Environmental Reports, Property Condition Assessments or Property Inspection Reports to confirm soundness of the collateral property.
Analyzes the creditworthiness of potential Borrowers and Guarantors using financial statements/REO Schedules, income tax returns, organizational documents and credit reports including payment histories for existing loans, etc.
Prepares and structures written loan presentations for final approval which should include all the fundamentals of the proposed loan to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures and guidelines. Establishes underwriting requirements for loan funding.
Coordinates with Loan Processing/Closing Department and outside counsel, as needed, in the preparation, review and approval of loan documentation.
Partners with Wholesale and Retail Loan Origination Departments to cultivate strong client relationships. Exhibits a sense of urgency towards meeting client requests while also meeting acceptable risk parameters
Participates in department/unit training activities.

Qualifications:
BA typically required - preferably in Business Administration or a similar field of study.
8 years of similar Commercial Real Estate Loan Underwriting experience. Additional underwriting experience (# of years) may be required, for non-BA candidates.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively. Strong writing skills as must.
Strong analytical skills. Strong attention to detail. Excellent co-worker and customer service skills.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to read and interpret complex financial statements, tax returns, legal documents and other financial documents.
Ability to think and react in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
