Position Summary:

Milliken & Company seeks a Communications Specialist to help craft and implement communications activities that support our overall strategic priorities, and specifically to partner closely with our businesses and enablers in the development of all global communications and project activations. Communications tools and channels include a global e-newsletter, company intranet, physical and digital signage, toolkits and activation packets, virtual and in-person events. Communications topics include leadership updates, product, associate, team, and location spotlights, learning and development initiatives, safety messaging, integration communications, and more. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for creating communications that support our 8,000 global associates in getting the information they need to be informed, engaged, and inspired at Milliken.

This person will be a savvy communicator, strong collaborator, and possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle many projects at once. As part of our Internal Communications team, this person will focus on implementing our global internal communication strategy across various channels. The ideal candidate will have outstanding writing, editing, and project management skills, and an eye for design. This person should be able to function well in a fast-paced environment, work well with cross-functional partners and be willing to develop expertise in the technologies that support the team's work.

Responsibilities


  • Writes, edits, reviews, lays out, and oversees release of The Weekly Wire, our internal e-newsletter and its accompanying toolkits

  • Creates, edits, and enhances internal communication materials

  • Reviews and edits essential internal communications prior to dissemination to ensure accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness

  • Ensures a consistent voice that is on par with our internal brand style and tone

  • Uses multiple channels and technologies to distribute communications (i.e. HubSpot, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, BrightSign, Yammer), and helps train internal partners to use these technologies

  • Assists with the development, implementation, and troubleshooting of new and existing internal communication vehicles

  • Works closely with the enterprise-wide Marketing Excellence Communications team and other key internal partners to develop and execute communications initiatives that build engagement and foster a positive, transparent global culture within the company

  • Helps develop and manage the company's Internal Communications Calendar and messaging plan

  • Project manages Digital Signage Expansion project

  • Supports internal event planning and communications

  • Coordinate with outside vendors to translate, print, and/or distribute communications materials and Company swag

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with superb ability to translate ideas into clear, compelling messaging

  • Strong ability to build cross-functional relationships and influence with authority across all levels and functions

  • Service-minded individual willing to support business and functional partners

  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and be part of a lean and nimble team

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills

  • An eye for design is a must, but formal design experience is not required

  • Deadline-driven yet flexible in your approach to getting there

  • Possess an ability to be flexible and work well under pressure
