ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Responsible for financial analyses reporting, and support of assigned portfolio of projects as required by project management teams and department management. Accurate analysis without supervision is expected for less complex project and accurate analysis with limited supervision is expected for more complex program. Support of projects according to overall departmental goals and objectives.

  • Apply the knowledge of project finances in the analysis of assigned programs.

  • Proficient in understanding contract type and project performance with regard to timelines and resourcing.

  • Assist in monthly close activities including preparation of assigned journal entries and reconciliations, providing variance explanations to forecast related to revenue, cost and profitability.

  • Work with Billing Manager in the preparation of customer invoices and supporting documentation.

  • Assist with contracts and change orders. Critically review and provide feedback of the financial and schedule impacts of work orders, change orders, and associated documents, both received from the clients and those released to subcontractors.

  • Conduct project and financial analysis of assigned projects to draw conclusions from information gathered and recommend solutions to address gaps that have impacts on the project scheduling, cost, scope and resourcing. Review with the Project/Program Manager, budget-to-plan-to actual analysis of the project contract to include (but not limited to): analysis of project resource allocation, project expenses, contract payment schedule versus client invoicing, units completed, or any other financial metrics for that project. Report variances between actuals/forecasts versus program budget for all expenses (Labor, other direct costs, subcontracts, etc.) and support the development of Estimates to Complete. Provide review of associated contract documentation.

  • Proactively identify specific project performance issues related to timelines and resourcing, with minimal supervision. Identify workable solutions based on analysis and recommend best course of action to program team with minimal guidance.

  • Participate in/ conduct meetings for assigned programs and communicate all issues, decisions and action items through minutes, project summary reports, and escalation meetings. Meetings to include kickoff, transition, reviews, and close out meetings.

  • Develop innovative proposals on the analysis of complex programs and identify/ recommend best courses of action with minimal guidance.

  • Ability to work independently and properly prioritize work based on own judgement with minimal supervision. Ability to work within consideration of guidelines and with supervisors. Supports others in defining priorities, breaks down goals into manageable action plans.

  • Liaise with finance and operational teams for financial matters with minimal supervision. Financial matters include but are not limited to invoicing, revenue recognition, sponsor questions, preparation of monthly forecasts as well as annual budgets

  • Collaborate with Project Managers and project teams to create, maintain, and update project schedules.

  • Complete reports and tracking in a timely and consistent manner with concise, accurate information in various systems and tracking tools on portfolio of projects. Ensure proper documentation and record tracking of project meetings, decisions, interventions and escalations.

  • Prepare monthly, sponsor, departmental, and ad hoc management reports as requested with minimal supervision.

  • Participates on proposal submissions upon request.

  • Contribute to overall strategic process improvements and implementation for department.

  • Effectively communicates with program teams, finance staff, department leadership and other internal and external stakeholders.

  • Maintains a safe workplace ensuring that he/she is aware of and observes appropriate safety and occupational health rules and regulations. Employee is required to attend safety training relative to his/her position and report any infractions of safety procedures to the facility Safety Officer.

  • Performs light duties and other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications


EducationBachelors of Accounting (preferred)
ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business or equivalent experience. (preferred)
4 or more years of experience in a contract environment to include project financial analysis and other relevant functions. Strong preference to life sciences or federal contracting experience. (preferred)
Understanding of the Contract Research business model. (preferred)
Strong understanding of revenue recognition and accrual accounting. (preferred)
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required (preferred)
Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics SL and/or ReQlogic desirable. (preferred)
Strong analytical, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. (preferred)
