Job Title:  OCC - Ocean Solutions Project Manager

Job Location: Miami, FL

We have an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Ocean Solutions Project Manager. In this role you will work on medium to long term assignments for the US Ocean freight organization and will be responsible for the tactical execution of assigned projects. You will analyze and recommend pricing strategies for DHL Ocean Freight products and services by conducting market, competitor and profitability analysis, as well as revenue simulations. In addition you will drive various improvement programs (revenue, process etc.) as well as manage commercial projects of various scopes.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Self-sufficiently own, execute and implement medium to long term improvement and commercial projects

• Ensure that project goals and milestones are achieved by:




• Developing and/or implementing necessary tracking tools and documents for individual and group projects to foster project flow and efficiency


• Monitoring progress of projects to ensure milestones are met


• Participating in strategic planning of team objectives and ensuing projects


• Work with other departments on cross-departmental projects


• Pro-actively driving the completion of assigned tasks

·         Formulate timely and accurate responses to local pricing requests

·         Analyze and recommend appropriate pricing for DHL Ocean products and services for specific customers by applying guidelines, performing profitability analysis, and suggesting optimal pricing as well as routing of cargo

·         Create pricing solutions for both short term as well as long term (RFQ) environments

·         Create market competitive pricing solutions including LCL, Inlands, FCL and OOG cargo as needed

·         Manage and Maintain Top Client Rate Update Tracker files

·         Work closely with Product and Sales Managers to develop strategies for new/ existing customers

·         Provide pricing for Sales growth on country level, support and follow up with Sales

·         Support execution of commercial strategy in country

·         Forecasts volume and revenue to use in financial and operational planning activities

·         Ensure adequate opportunity prioritization, pricing, routing and solution design
(timely and quality wise) in alignment with Sales

Skills / Requirements:

·         BS in Business or Logistics, or comparable work experience in the field. Project Management certification a plus

·         Minimum 5 years' relevant working experience; previous exposure in Shipping or Logistics Industry is a must

·         Self-sufficient and pro-active worker who can manage assigned projects with limited direct supervision

·         Experience identifying process improvements and coordinating their implementation

·         Experience in both general cargo and specialized cargo pricing solutions

·         Experience both in Spot Pricing as well RFQ / Bid Team environments

·         Comfortable with database management

·         Technically Competent - Very strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel (vlookup, Pivots a must, VBA a plus)

·         Extremely detail oriented

·         Very strong analytical and communication skills

·         Comfortable in speaking/presenting in front of internal and external customers

·         Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects, working well under pressure

·         Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results

·         Team player – Willing to go above and beyond individually assigned tasks to help the team as a whole
