POSITION SUMMARY

The Bookkeeper supports the department in carrying out the day-to-day responsibilities of the Accounting Department under the direction of the Asst Controller and Controller. This position relieves the Controller of certain responsibilities that will allow the Controller to spend a greater portion of their time on financial statement preparation, analysis, budgets, forecasting, and various other issues.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Maintains fixed assets system.

  • Maintain general ledgers.

  • Prepares month end closings and reconciliations.

  • Prepares and files monthly/quarterly sales tax returns.

  • Prepares and posts monthly recurring entries.

  • Works with other staff members to ensure accuracy of posted transactions through AP, AR and Fixed Assets

  • Prepares monthly financial statements and all related reports including comparative income statement, cash projection statement and special assessment analysis.

  • Works with Resort personnel on annual Budget preparation.

  • Annual audit preparation.

  • Perform other accounting and financial tasks as may be required from time to time by the Controller.

  • Reconcile monthly bank statements.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Education/Credentials


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Accounting is required.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with financial statement reporting.

Experience


  • Must be well organized, reliable, and a self-starter,

  • Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.

  • Must be highly skilled in Excel spreadsheets, as well as the rest of the MS Office Suite.

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred but not required.

  • Working knowledge of Great Plains is a plus, but not required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Well lighted office environment that is ventilated. The work is mainly performed at a desk. The use of a telephone and computer is constant. Work hours may vary based on work that needs to be completed and project deadlines that need to be met.
