Loan Intake Specialist at HomeTrust Bank

Job Description:

Job Summary

The Loan Intake Specialist is responsible for conducting a quality check of each loan file’s credit documentation and the ordering of supplementary third-party verifications.  Upon procurement of the necessary credit documentation and posting of appraisal and credit report fees, this position will assign a Loan Processor to the loan.  The incumbent is also responsible for managing time-sensitive material and meeting deadlines.  

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions


  • Manages pipelines to assure timely execution of duties and turns files within twenty-four hours.

  • Reviews the mortgage application and credit documentation received from the Loan Officer.

  • Splits out documents into appropriate document holders within the loan file and confirms loan disclosures are compliant with policy.

  • Orders title work from the Settlement Agent and orders property appraisals.

  • Requests services and verifications of credit documentation and processes appraisal and credit report fee collections.

  • Orders flood certifications and issues flood hazard notices.

  • Utilizes the VA portal to procure a Certificate of Eligibility on VA loans.

  • Reports missing or incomplete documentation to the Loan Officer for corrections and issues Notice of Incompleteness.

  • Assigns a Loan Processor to the loan file.

  • Submits adverse loan files to Underwriting for review.

  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

Job Requirements

Education:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 

Required:


  • 1+ years of experience in a bank.

  • Familiarity with all federal and state banking regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and the USA Patriot Act.

  • Familiarity with all federal and state banking regulations pertaining to lending and consumer compliance, including fair lending laws.

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, with the ability to learn mortgage-related software programs.

  • Demonstrates the ability to analyze situations and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Solid oral and written communication skills, with ability to interact effectively with all customers, both internal and external. 

  • Approaches responsibilities with enthusiasm for delivering excellent customer service, displaying energy and drive for accurate task completion, and an overall ambition for success.

  • Takes personal accountability and responsibility when errors occur and learns from mistakes.

Preferred:


  • Previous experience in loan related documents.

  • Knowledge of consumer loan or mortgage programs.
