Senior Manager, Platform Product Management

We are looking for an experienced group product manager to help define the high-level vision, strategy and roadmap to build core platform capabilities that will be utilized by all Equinix products and services.  This position will lead a team of highly experienced product managers to execute on the roadmap and oversee day-to-day operations across the team.

This position will work closely with all other Core Product teams, Platform engineering team, UX, and other cross-functional groups to build critical capabilities from inception to launch.

Responsibilities

Product Management Leadership


  • Help develop a high-level vision and strategy to build platform capabilities with reusability, consistency and high leveragability that are industry-standard in cloud and SaaS domain

  • Help develop, maintain and operationally execute on a key part of the overall platform roadmap by leading a team of product managers

  • Establish, communicate and monitor usage, activity and adoption metrics for platform initiatives and delivered capabilities by defining success

  • Lead a team of product managers tasked with delivering highly critical world-class core platform capability that will be integrated and utilized across all Equinix product and services

  • Bring strategic mindset in evaluating and prioritizing competing requirements including features, bugs, enabler work, and tech debt; working regularly with the scrum leads to refine and add detail where needed.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with the Core Product Management team to plan adoption of core platform capabilities with minimal disruption

  • Work with core product managers, business functional teams and platform engineering team to define deliverables for any given release within the product development lifecycle.

  • Lead the product management function including planning, initiative development, and deployment.

  • Be accountable for the performance and results of direct reports, teams, and area of responsibility.

  • Define succession plan and people development strategy.

  • Effectively manage performance management of team members.

  • Guide and coach team members to drive a culture of excellence.

  • Effectively lead regular and annual performance management for team and equitably allocate rewards for direct reports.

  • Proactively drive talent development, including quarterly conversations, career pathways conversations and individual development/growth plans.

  • Lead by example, by being a model for Equinix Culture and Values.

  • Foster and promote high engagement, performance and collaboration while providing strategic direction across several local & remote teams.

  • Build and maintain healthy relationships at all levels of the organization - evangelizing the team, aligning on common goals, and creating a shared vision.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of product management experience for software products delivered in a SaaS model is a must - cloud infrastructure and cloud service provider experience highly preferred

  • At least 3 years of experience leading product management teams.

  • Understanding and experience in delivering platform capabilities as microservices and APIs

  • Operationally hands-on and experienced at leading a SCRUM team of UI/UX and engineers as a product owner for a technical product and features when needed

  • Past experience managing a global team, which encompasses working in EMEA, APAC and AMER time zones.

  • Must be comfortable collaborating with engineering on solving problems.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders and bring out the best in the team.

  • Have a “get it done” mindset and bring creativity and strategic thought every day.

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, information systems or related field of study required

  • Strong collaboration, influence, excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally at all levels including executives, customers, managers, and subject matter experts

  • Thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments and can track multiple, complex projects simultaneously

  • Growth mindset.

Desired Qualifications


  • Master’s degree in software engineering or related field of study highly preferred

  • Experience with developing software services based digital platform in an enterprise environment under complex “brownfield” circumstances
