MuleSoft, a Salesforce organization, is looking for a Build or DevOps engineer who has the skill set and passion for building excellent interfaces that provide a delightful user experience for our customers, or a full-stack web developer who also has deep knowledge of, or willingness to learn, documentation infrastructure and tools. MuleSoft needs your expertise to help bring our content to the next level by co-owning, supporting, and improving the toolchain and processes that support our growing content experience team to help us deliver an outstanding and compelling experience for our customers.

You support the content experience team and other stakeholders by developing the specialized technical knowledge and skills to support the infrastructure backend and toolchain to keep the team productive with the tools they use to produce content. You stay engaged and are willing to continuously learn about the publishing needs of content creators so they can focus on writing great technical content. You have a track record of leading challenging and complex projects with multiple individual contributors and stakeholders.

You will work closely with content creators to enable them to meet their goals by creating and maintaining a high-quality workflow as well as implementing customizations and maintaining a text-based documentation toolchain that meets the content experience needs of our internal and external customers.

In this role you:


  • Work with the documentation infrastructure architect to drive the doc operations and tooling roadmap, and regularly communicate roadmap status and activities to your stakeholders.


  • Co-own and help improve our content design process by streamlining and automating aspects of content creation, review, and verification with the goal of improving the production quality of our content.


  • Think outside the box to help design and develop the digital transformation and modernization of our existing legacy documentation portal.


  • Turn design requirements into delightful content experiences.


  • Maintain and upgrade multiple authoring tools and workflows.


  • Are the inspirational lead for documentation operations. You ensure your team has the tools they need to author, review, and publish high-quality content.


  • Assist in onboarding new team members to doc ops and in migrating all team members to different processes when required.


  • Proactively respond to and seek feedback from internal and external customers.



  • Set priorities to respond to infrastructure-related enhancement or bug requests.


  • Document toolchain processes and workflows for future reference and training.


3 Months

What you'll achieve:


  • You understand the current documentation infrastructure in detail.


  • You self-direct your work with the doc tools and infrastructure architect, DevOps engineers, tools vendors, and content creators to gather doc infrastructure requirements and create a detailed enhancement plan.


  • You understand our other technologies well enough to start making enhancements as per the plan and communicate the changes to the content experience team.


12 Months

What you'll achieve:


  • You demonstrate expertise in the MuleSoft documentation infrastructure and can train other team members for various tasks.


  • You have a reputation for quickly responding to infrastructure-related enhancement or bug requests and have built a strong working relationship with cross-functional stakeholders to plan, and implement solutions.


  • You proactively respond to and seek feedback from internal and external customers.


What You'll Need To Be Successful


  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field experience.


  • You have 3+ years of experience as a web content developer or DevOps engineer, working with a technical documentation team.


  • You have demonstrated the ability to engage, collaborate, and support technical writers, reviewers, and other stakeholders.


  • You can handle unplanned work such as broken builds, helping writers resolve technical issues they encounter with the toolchain, and beta site and page redirect requests with grace.



  • You have experience working with the following technologies:



    • Jenkins


    • AWS


    • HTML


    • Asciidoc, Markdown, or other lightweight markup languages


    • CSS


    • Git


    • Coveo or other search engines


    • Antora (desirable but not required)





  • You have developed software and software fixes to integrate internal systems.


  • You have developed and maintained design and troubleshooting documentation.


  • You can ensure code quality, test and distribute code updates, and monitor the health and stability of the servers.


  • You have implemented automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines).


  • You are able to troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with the development team to streamline code deployment.


  • You have the ability to break down problems.


  • You can work independently and as part of a team.


  • You have a strong understanding of agile software development processes.
