What You'll Be Doing...The primary role of the Program Manager, Data Management, is to drive strategy, execution, and ongoing oversight of data governance projects and standards that support the growth and scalability of Tableau. This role is targeted at individuals who are looking to leverage their existing experience to grow into a critical central figure within our Tableau Data & Analytics team, and with the consumers we serve. You will partner with stakeholders in the Tableau organization as well as the broader Enterprise data ecosystem, including Salesforce, to develop a deep understanding of business needs, perform analysis, and execute solutions to transform the business through governance processes, technology, and policies. The Manager will also be responsible for governance programs to support our strong data culture.


Some of the things you'll be doing include ...

  • Performing statistical tests on large datasets to determine data quality and integrity

  • Evaluating system performance and design, as well as its effect on data quality

  • Collaborating with database developers to improve data collection and storage processes

  • Running data queries to identify coding issues and data exceptions, as well as cleaning data

  • Gathering data from primary or secondary data sources to identify and interpret trends

  • Reporting data analysis findings to management to inform business decisions and prioritize information system needs

  • Documenting processes and maintaining data records

  • Adhering to best practices in data profiling analysis and collection

  • Keeping abreast of developments and trends in data quality analysis

  • Grow and enhance our enterprise data governance program

  • Help execute the data governance strategy for Tableau to support the organization's strategic objectives - specifically around self-service

  • Assist the Data Governance Consul in establishing priorities, driving and measuring progress and auditing data governance activities

  • Implements solutions to improve data quality for all Tableau data domains

  • Support regulatory compliance (PII) around data and limit organization's exposure to a data breach

  • Collaborates with teams to establish consistency in developing recommendations around policies, standards and framework for data governance

  • Collaborates with partners across the enterprise in designing and maintaining the data governance and data quality structures ensuring business needs are met while balancing quality, risk and cost

  • Map and assess current processes and structures for data governance and identify gaps and areas for improvement. Facilitate the discussion in improving data quality.

  • Enhance and implement a multi-year data governance & data management roadmap

  • Facilitates strong engagement of data stewards and data domain owners to ensure Tableau's Data governance function delivers measurable business value

  • Provides support to other teams and Data projects to ensure accurate alignment to data governance policies including data classification, data quality, data cataloging, and data discovery

  • Support project activities such as data migration and data validation

  • Serves as a point of escalation for high-impact data governance and data quality issues

  • Presents oral and written presentations to key partners. Has the ability to support and influence across these stakeholders

  • Managing the build and communication of collateral to educate and train data users

  • Managing and prioritizing the opportunities to apply standards and policies to data and areas where authoritative source of data should be used


Who You Are...

  • 5+ years of experience in any of Data Governance, Metadata Management, Business Intelligence, Data Quality, Data Analysis, or Master Data Management

  • 5+ years of experience capturing and documenting complex business and functional requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as data analyst with hands-on data profiling experiences

  • Experience with setting up Data Quality measures


  • Familiarity with Enterprise Data Management including data access, data quality, data ingestion, and data infrastructure

  • Ability to lead various data initiatives across a heavily matrixed organization

  • Proven ability to communicate to a technical and non-technical audience

  • Experience with large scale data programs or solutions

  • Experience developing and maintaining data catalogs, data discovery and data quality tooling

  • Ability to drive continuous improvement efforts

  • Have a customer-focused mindset applied to both internal and external consumers

  • Capability to be agile, proactive, comfortable working with ambiguous specifications, think outside the box to come up with innovative solutions to complex problems

  • Effectively motivate people, instill accountability, and demonstrate the value of data across a wide range of individuals including engineers, systems administrators, executives, customers, regulators, auditors, etc.

  • Convey a self-motivated, pragmatic, and get-it-done attitude

  • Knowledge of data management practices (data quality, metadata management, data security/privacy and master data management)

  • Experience with Tableau and a big plus having experience with the data management Tableau product

  • Experience with Data Governance tools and platforms (like Alation, Collibra, Informatica IDQ)

  • Experience with Snowflake or similar data warehouse

  • Experience with SOX/ITIL controls

  • Experience with Privacy Laws and practices

  • Experience in other Regulatory compliance

  • Experience with BI tools
