About the Role

In this role you'll be primarily responsible for providing analytical and technical support to the Trust Tax Department and perform a wide variety of duties under limited supervision. You'll oversee the coordination of the preparation and processing of tax returns for multiple states and various regional federal areas.

What You Can Expect

You will coordinate the overall tax return processes and ensure correct handling and delivery of tax worksheets to your tax account manager and any outside preparation parties. You will be responsible for the filing of tax returns, confirm accurate information, process timely deliveries and manage the refund process to owed accounts.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • You'll research basic Federal and State tax laws and regulations.

  • You'll coordinate fee assessment and collection by monitoring the reporting and collection of fees to the trust tax manager and trust controller

  • You will be responsible for solving problems and inquiries from taxing authorities, clients and outside attorneys.

  • You will perform other duties as required or assigned, including client tax payroll, process improvement functions, and provide backup for other duties in area.

INITIATIVE - You will need to identify what to do before being asked to do it and look at what's next to anticipate customer needs.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE - You'll need proficiency in 10-key speed and error accuracy, mechanical aptitude, and strong MS Office (Word and Excel).

Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of an Associate's Degree in Accounting and 2-3 years accounting experience or 5-6 years equivalent experience, preferably in tax accounting.


  • Advanced knowledge of basic Federal and State tax law and regulations. Fiduciary tax accounting knowledge is helpful.

  • Excellent PC and software application skills, including spreadsheet and word processing applications; ability to operate a 10 key by touch

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle significant fluctuations in volumes while meeting extremely stringent deadlines.

  • Ability to improve functional efficiency, streamline and improve methodology.

  • Excellent analytical, coping, and problem solving skills.
