The Customer Solutions Analytics & Insights team is responsible for building backend analytical data products and machine learning models that enhance our stakeholders' ability to perform self-serve analytics. We seek to build robust data products that meet the needs of our internal partners and innovate new solutions for business problems.


As the Manager, Data Engineering, you will oversee a growing team of data engineers as we build backend data assets, data products, and infrastructure for our internal partners.

You'll lead the development and enhancement of an innovative data environment by leveraging industry best practices and cutting edge approaches. You'll collaborate with our Enterprise Data Platform and Analytics team to build out solutions and with our Analytics business partners to anticipate data needs and proactively develop data solutions to address the toughest, highest impact business problems. You will be responsible for data pipelines that provide source data for organizational performance assessment and advanced analytics, data models owned by the CSAI team, and development and operationalization of advanced analytics solutions including machine learning and recommendations engines based on predictive analytics. This role leads a team of data engineers that builds, operates, and maintains the technical solutions to meet the business needs for analytics and insights.

Some of the things you'll be doing include...


  • Leadership and management of CSAI Data Engineers, a small but growing team of 4 to 6, including resource management, hiring, mentorship, coaching, and performance management.


  • Architect, build and maintain scalable automated data pipelines ground up. Be an expert of stitching and calibrating data across various data sources.


  • Work with Tableau's enterprise data platform team to understand and validate instrumentation and data flow.


  • Integrate new data management, data science and machine learning technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures.


  • Lead code reviews and related processes.


  • Own the Solutions data model and schemas.



Who You Are...


  • Leader: You have supervised teams or managed direct reports before. You have strong communication skills, lead with empathy, and take initiative. You know how to engage and lead remote engineering teams and stakeholders.


  • Technically Savvy: 5+ years experience designing, implementing and maintaining relational data warehousing environments (custom or structured ETL), with expert SQL and Python proficiency. You're familiar with building systems and infrastructure in a cloud environment, like AWS.


  • Experienced: You have 5+ years writing code in an engineering setting and a proven track record of leading teams in building software or data engineering applications.


  • Educated: BS degree in computer science, information systems or related field.


  • Strategic: You think about the big picture and can help others connect their work to the bigger picture through effective written and verbal communication.


  • Relentlessly High Standards: You lead by example and hold yourself and your team to high standards.


  • Self-motivated and Proactive: You take initiative and drive your projects to success. You identify risk early and take steps to manage and mitigate risk. You have bias for action.
